    Hello everyone,

my name is Andrea Zambon and I'm from Italy; and as you may notice from the post count, I'm new to notebookreview forum :) .

I'm opening this thread to discuss what to expect from the next iteration of the Clevo P180HM laptop.

I found a chart in another thread in this same forum showing the possible release timing and gpu configuration for the new Clevo models (dates refer to the start of manufacturing, not to reseller availability). Since I'm interested in the P180HM model and the other discussion is about the P150EM, I didn't want to hijack the other thread.

I don't know whether there were any official announcements about the next P180HM (didn't find anything browsing other threads in this section), so there may not be a sure answer to my questions, but I'll try anyway.

First of all, the chart indicates a single gtx 670M card for the new P180HM. In the other thread it was said that:

which means that the GPU should be another one (by the way, does EOL stand for "end of life" or something else?). My real question, however, is a different one: do you think that it will be possible to purchase/upgrade the p180hm to twin gtx680m in SLI? I guess that it depends on whether 2 gtx680m fit in the maximum power consumption supported by the mainboard (the reason why the current P180HM cannot be equiped with dual gtx580m, if I'm not mistaken). I ask this because I plan to keep this laptop for a while, so I would like it to have enough processing power to last for a few years.

Then I'd also like to ask about the illuminated keyboard: it's not a show stopper for me, and it seems logical that it should have one, but I didn't find anything stating that the new P180HM would have or not have the illuminated keyboard.

Also, I wouldn't mind a slight overclock of the CPU (I plan on getting an extreme edition ivy bridge), but I read that the current model does not provide much support for overclocking (i.e. BIOS options), is this right? In this case, is there any word about possible changes for the next release?

    Thank you in advance,

    Andrea Zambon.

So, no one else is interested in the next P180HM?

I am not even sure that there will be a P180HM.. I think it has been replaced with the P270WM. That chart sure looks a little weird :) but I guess I might be wrong. The P270WM does everything better and there isn't any reason to make a new laptop with a 1" difference, the P270WM supports dual SLI/CF and it has a illuminated keyboard, so I guess everything is cleared up already.

P.S. EOL means End-of-Life yes, read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End-of-life_(product)

EOL means the P180HM production is at a dead end, which means there is no upcoming P180HM.

    Doh,

I thought that "EOL" was referred to the graphics adapter, not to the whole P180HM.

Well, if that is true, I'll have to change my plans.

This is correct. There is no refresh coming for this model. Sorry.
