I've got some questions and problems with my Clevo M570RU:

    1) Will I be able to upgrade to a Penryn from my current 2.2GHz Santa Rosa? I haven't heard anything about this for a couple of months.

    2) Will I be able to upgrade to an 8800GTX if I have a 7950GTX without having to upgrade my mobo?

    3) My power jack is *extremely* loose. It takes me literally 15 minutes to position it in the exact place it needs to be to make a connection, and I have to push very hard. Right now it's being held in place by a book (which I'll need to read tonight, so I'll have to take it out... bleh). Is there any way to tighten something on the inside without voiding my warranty? I already sent this notebook in for RMA this year for a faulty audio jack and the power jack.

    Well, thanks in advance.

send it back in for warranty work again why you still have warranty.
sager pays warranty shipping both ways.

Clevo, not Sager. And I'm wondering if there's any way to do it myself (tighten something?(.

Have you bought it from Clevo directly? I doubt it...
    1. Yes, with a BIOS upgrade.
    2. No, you'll have to replace the motherboard.
    3. Send it back.

If you got it from RJtech... then yes, its a Sager (the barebones at least). :)

You could use the Penryn CPUs, but as Fade to Black mentioned, you need a BIOS upgrade.
However, you could use a 8800M GTX, IF you can deal with the fact that you will not have SLEEP MODE anymore.Meaning if you use "standby" on your system it will not resume.Appart from that you can just buy the card and install it yourself. However if you have a Sager branded notebook, you can send it for a rework and it will cost the same as the new card.
About the jack thing, warranty had, warranty used! send it back. The audio jack is on my #1 list of things that are likely to get broken on the m570RU ... :(

You forgot to mention the fact that the new Clevo (which supports 8800M) also has a redesigned cooling system, which helps.

    To avoid confusion:

The NEW clevo is the M570RU-U, which has improved cooling for intel extreme CPU overclocking capability, not for better cooling for the GPU. The 8800M is fully supported (no sleep issues) from mb version 4.something. This version does not have the new chassis/cooling and mb v5.0.

The GPU might benefit, due to lower internal temperature.

I agree with you on that, but the new cooling is designed for the CPU. Biggest benefit would be if the fans turn on less frequently :D

Yes, but I also have doubts about the motherboard. I don't think that 8800M is fully supported on something less than v5 motherboards.

So, I can up it to an 8800 wih my current version, only losing the ability to sleep? Why would the sleep ability be lost?

Anyways, it's not a big deal for me. It's either on or off.
