and i have read the cons of the sager but they dont seem that bad, how is the warranty of xotic pc? amazing? or so so.. cant decide on 1 year or 2. is there a way to extend it later?

Based on your needs, I think this laptop is a great choice. Xoticpc's service is incredible, they offer all the help you need even if you screwed up :p You cannot extend the warranty beyond I think 1 month after purchase if I remember correctly, so I would get two years right now. The cons of this laptop are hdd temps that are high for some (not me tho), a little heavy for a 15 incher, and low battery life 2h-2h30.

Undervolting is really easy on this laptop. I did my P9600 with Rmclock on vista x64 and it gave me a little more battery life and some lower temps. You can just follow flipfire's guide in the sticky step by step and you won't screw up.

I think you might wanna get a Q9000 for your needs. I'm not sure there will be another quad supported in the future by this laptop, since the mobile i5-i7 are coming out next. And a quad for 170$ extra is a good deal I think.

Hey thanks for your your post. How much more batt life did you get from undervolting you sager? what caused you to pick the 2.66ghz over the stock for $50?

The 3870 isn't as powerful as the 260m, but that's still a nice machine for sure.

8662 supports Quadro card which is more optimized for 3D/CAD work. Also M15x is less durable than the 8662 and looks unprofessional imo.

after talking to my mother she does not want me getting a desktop and laptop or spend so much on one laptop so i may get a asus g71 about 1150$

she does not feel good with me gettin ga sager and a reseller she's does not trust businesses. but how is the asus? is it upgradable also I was thinking about getting the bestbuy version same specs as sager but with 6gb ram ddr2 500gb harddrive. what do you all think? after the extra battery and warranty its about 400$ less.

i know this is a sager forum but I am just wanting to have some money left over and to make my mother happy. what do you guys think of the g71 i need to research it more. heard it's better than the g51

I heard Asus 260M cards are underclocked, so it's like buying a V8 with 4 cylinders knocked out. Whether it's worth ~$400 is up to you, but if you're not going for top performance of a 260M card, you should consider much better deals with slightly lesser cards, like the Compal KHLB2 [aka Sager NP2098].

You're actually better off buying any computer off of a reputable reseller [and Xotic is one of the most reputable ones in NA] than direct. People always think that a big name is insurance but it's just not like that. Circuit City and Best Buy make a killing off of the general consumers that think that way. Any educated buyer would get his or her laptop from a boutique reseller if possible.

However it sounds like your mom isn't the type to listen so all I can advise you is to get your own money so you can call the shots.
