Hi, I finally got my machine set up, with the SSD and all.

My specs are in my sig, I just ran Vantage @ Stock settings.

Does anybody have any questions for what you guys might find interesting?

I know that the 460m is far below the 485m and will likely be crippled in the benchmarks, so I just would like to open this thread up and ask for any requests.

Benchmarks that I have run are as follows:

    3dMark Vantage:

    CrystalDiskMark:

    WEI:

Anyone have any questions or requests?

Also, what is a good GPU Overclocking tool for nVidia cards? Thanks, and fire the questions away!

After overclocking, close to the limit of MSI Afterburner.

Anyway you can take some decent pics of the laptop (external and internal)? I've seen some around here, but they were a little disappointing in quality and lighting. I still don't feel like I have a good understanding of what this thing is going to look like.

Hey how do you like the rubber finish?

Nice work comparing with a credit card =] Really gave me a feel for the size!

p.s. I Have the exact same desk lamp. It makes a lot of noise >_<

Wait, this desk lamp makes noise? :D

I don't know about mine.. it remains dead quiet..

The rubber finish is very nice and feels like you can't accidentally drop it or slide it off the desk or sth.

But the trackpad is horrible. The rubber finish prevents any good scrolling on the trackpad, and it practically makes it very unusable in real life.

If you have access to GTA IV, I would like to see that benched at native resolution, all high settings and sliders at 50.

Thanks for the nice pics! Congrats on the new machine :D

I really like the clean, solid exterior, as compared to many other laptops. I had an idea that it might be difficult to use the trackpad, since it has the rubberized finish as well. But, I'm not a fan/user of trackpads (seriously, Magic Trackpad? And 70bucks at that? LMFAO...sorry, couldn't resist...), so am not really concerned about that.

Say, since it looks sunny out, could you maybe do a pic of the glossy screen facing the window? :)

Wow, thanks for the quick turnaround on the photo request. Clevo/Sager should use these to sell the laptop! That is much nicer looking than I hoped, but exactly what I have been reading on this forum to expect. I'm really looking forward to getting mine.

That brick actually doesn't look too much bigger than my current laptop. Hopefully it doesn't hiss too when under load.

Nice work, thanks! I love the clean look of the lid - do any of the resellers offer it without the Sager logo, or is getting a barebones the only way?

Upon request this can be easily done. You do not need to get a barebones to have no logo... :)

Yeah, one thing I loved was this was free of any logo.

Although, the BIOS bootup screen could use a little touch................

I disabled welcome screen on the BIOS because it read "Style Note".. which was kinda weird.. :D

    //

I unfortunately don't have access to GTA IV, as I don't have the game...

Can you point me to a link to a trial benchmark? Or is that non-existant?

    Somehow I totally missed this.

I'll get some pictures of the glossy screen tomorrow in sunlight.

I was asking my wife the other day which one she preferred (I'm in the market for an NP8170): the stock one that says "Sager", or the Malibal Satori (which says "MALIBAL"), and she did that thing where she called me an idiot without saying the word... Something about both of them sounding like cheap Malaysian brands, I think - and something about elephants crossing the Alps...

"Satori" she liked, so I'm hoping either for custom lettering from anyone, or no lettering at all :)

I ran this like a few days ago, and on AC, it was all Green, and it didn't even go up to yellow.

    Yeah, cuz I'm Korean... :D

It doesn't work well with Korean version of OS's..

@oz : I'll try to test, but I just can't get the battery life estimate. I was watching youtube videos and streaming viedo files at the same time, while playing music, and the battery life was 70% after 1hour+. I'll need to check.

Does anyone know a good battery life checker?

This batterybar looks good, but the estimates keep on changing like every 5 seconds or so.

What is the benefit of pro?

$5 for life doesn't seem bad.

Can you run CrystalDiskMark in "Safe Mode"?
