right i have a couple of quick questions

1, i have brought a Q6600 Go and it has a fan and i was wondering should i use this fan or the one that is currently in the laptop?

2, i have a Q6600 Go can i still use it on the NP9262? i looked in manual and it said the Q6600 but not the Q6600 Go

3, whats the difference between the Q6600 and the Q6600 Go?

    1. Use the laptop fan. Q6600 is a mainstream desktop CPU, but laptops have specific fans.
    2. I am not sure, but I don't see why you can't use a Q6600 G0.
    3. G0 - lower TDP, so should OC better before it hits high temps, and I think the G0 has a higher max temp of 71*C.

Checkout the versions of the Q6600.

    TDP - thermal design power

    Can't say about BIOS Support

hehe, you're saying Q6600 Go like it's the mobile version... like what Nvidia used to do with their video cards. I was a little confused. But yeah, a Q6600 is a Q6600, even if you have the G0 version (that is a zero, not the letter o)

Like Andy said, if your laptop takes a desktop LGA775 CPU, then it will fit. But the fan that comes with it is for a desktop computer... there is no possible way you could stick it on your laptop. Well, maybe if you soldered it to your laptop and then wired the fan in... but that might be a little uncomfortable to sit with

I think the G0 stepping from last year is the earliest model Q6600 that Clevo said works reliably in the D901C. So that or a newer revision (if it exists) is what you want. The B stepping (or whichever it was) Q6600s put out too much heat or something. Of course, just because Clevo said it didn't pass their tests, doesn't mean it wouldn't pass our tests....
If your laptop is from before November of last year, you may need a new mobo/BIOS update.

The "core stepping" is just the revisions intel has made to the CPUs. So a G0 quad is newer and probably more energy effiecient than a C0 stepping.
Some CPUs never launch with an older stepping though.
Some may only come in G0 or something like that.
I think every new Q6600 on the market is G0 or newer now.
