I am, like many others, it seems, plagued by a dying headphone port on my Sager NP579x. Now, when I plug in my headphones, music plays in both the headphones and the speakers. So, I was wondering if there was a way I could disable the speakers without uninstalling the drivers.

    Thanks in advance.

Funny, there was someone else on the forum last week (I think) with a different Clevo/Sager who wanted to enable the speakers when he had headphones plugged in.

What's probably happened is the mechanical switch/trigger inside the headphone jack on your computer has gotten bent or somesuch, and is no longer being triggered when the jack for the headphones is inserted.

Other than physically repairing the jack itself, disabling the speakers whenever you just want to use headphones is probably the simplest work-around.

How would one go about disabling the speakers but not the headphone port? I tried going to Sound under the Control Panel and disabling Speakers, but alas, it did not work.

My guess is that that's not going to work, and you'll probably end up having to try and get the jack itself to start sensing when the headphones are plugged in.

Yah i did, but i wanted to be able to turn this on and off, just so that i could get sound playing through more speakers when i was at home. Solved the problem by buying some surround sound speakers for £43 which was a gd option and i'm really enjoying them now :)

Download the ASIO drivers for the media player you use. Under the ASIO menu you can enable/disable outputs.
