Hi all, my dad is at Singapore now and he maybe getting a Sager NP8662 for my bro from Cube. ( http://www.sgcubehubs.com/home )

If he really does buy from them, I may ask him to ask Cube if they do sell independent CPU and probably get a slightly faster CPU upgrade than the CPU in my spec in my sig. (I play RTS and my 2.00GHz is getting really slow when tons of units are on my screen)

I was wondering which CPU can I buy put into my Sager NP5790... I've never switch CPUs before... (it should be easy right? I do know how to switch GPUs on my Sager)

Was wondering would it be possible for me to get this: " Intel® T9550 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.66GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt " or maybe " Intel® P9600 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.66GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 25 watt " (same CPU as the NP8662 my bro is buying just to make things simple for my dad) and just put it into my NP5790?

    Thanks. :)

the top CPU you can get for your system is:
    - Core 2 Duo T9500 ....... or Core 2 Extreme X9000

your system (Clevo M570RU) is using the previous Intel Santa Rosa platform.
    - which can ONLY support 800 FSB mobile Core 2 Duo's
    - here is a list of mobile Core 2 Duo's (any of the 800MHz ones should work in your system fine)
..... the 1066MHz FSB CPUs you were referring to are only supported in the latest Intel Centrino 2 (Montevina) notebooks

your system already has the top videocard that the BIOS supports.
    - 8800M GTX ~ 9800M GT (same thing)

The CPU is very simple to install, you can even see it in the User Manual or the Service Manual.

Thanks Gophn. Yea I know about the gpu stuff, I'm just kinda clueless when it comes to CPU. :p

Would you be able to put the full name of the Core 2 X9000 CPU here (such as in the format " Intel® T9550 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.66GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt " ) so that I could show it to my dad and ask him to ask Cube properly? It shouldn't be horribly expensive right?

you can buy the mobile Core 2 Duo's anywhere.... probably cheaper too.

for the X9000, I think the best deals on on eBay.

hmm... I'm unable able to buy from eBay (coz my parents still don't trust it & found it too troublesome...lol)
The price shouldn't matter too much for me. I'm just having trouble with the "getting my parents to buy it" part... :p

dont trust eBay ?!? .... in this day and age.

They seriously have to get over their fears and do some research to understand that buying on ebay is insured... since you will go through PayPal (which is a financial institution that protects whatever you buy).
    - and using a Credit Card is very safe as well since you will not liable if a deal goes bad... since the Credit Card company will have your back and wont charge you.

And you look at a seller's ratings, if they are well above 100 points of feedback with near 100% positive feedback, then you're safe.

Geez, people have fears that are not warranted.... just because they are ignorant to the facts.

"We fear when we do not understand."

Get your parents to understand. ;)

Conclusion: eBay has been around for ~10 years now, and they are safe, especially when you are paying through Paypal or a credit card... which protects you.

P.S. I know your parents will pay for it.... but I am a bang for the buck guy, so I learned to do heavy research before jumping on a purchase... so I wont get buyers remorse and waste money.

Many people are fear of eBay for no reason. A friend of mine kept asking me to get stuffs off eBay for him for a year until I finally got enough of him. After he shopped on his own the first time he was amazed, and realized how foolish he was about the trusting issue.
