Hate to link my other thread, but for those looking for a pack for this beast look no further....or at least get the specs needed to fit your rig comfortably ;p

Also, great review.
For those interested, the 8258 is pretty much spot on, though I nor my wife (who also has an 8258) seem to have the earphone issue of it going away.
I wonder if it could be just something with the hardware itself.
If you find a solution to that, I'd be curious. -
I will definitely try and post my findings once I get a few to look at it again.

Figured Id add the panel removal and quick overview.

Thanks for the reviews. I'm getting ready to 'pull the trigger' on this one or the P170. The video reviews you've been doing have been really great.
One of the things that I'm curious about is the touchpad:
I notice in some pictures, including the review for this laptop here on NBR ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/fileadmin/Notebooks/Schenker/XMG_P704/neu1.jpg), it seems 'sunk down' into the plastic with little ridges around it. I had a laptop many years ago (I believe it was a Dell) that had a touchpad that seemed REALLY 'sunk down'. It didn't matter while you were using it really, but every little piece of dust or crumb would get caught and you'd have to use a cotton swab or toothpick to try and clean up against the edge where the touchpad and case meet. Because of that I tend to gravitate more towards touchpads that are 'flush' or nearly flush with the case surface. In some of the pictures for this model, it looks like this one is sunk down quite a bit as well but I can't find any pictures showing actually how 'deep' it is sunk in.
I'm wondering about it because of 2 reasons: 1) I don't like 'dirty' things so having stuff getting stuck there all the time will drive me nuts. 2) With Windows 8 having 'swipe from the edge' gestures (which I may end up finding annoying and just disabling them so it may end up being a moot point) I imagine that it might be more difficult to perform those gestures on a 'sunk down' touchpad vs. a 'flush' touchpad.
Is it possibly to maybe take a picture of your finger touching the touchpad so I can see the edge and get a real sense of how 'deep' it is? Do you get the sense that it is going to have that problem of crud getting stuck against the edge or in the corners?
Thanks,
