I think this will interest a bunch of people...? rjtech.com has the GTX280 for sale, under "notebook parts."

Can anyone tell me something about rjtech.com and clevo barebones? Im thinking of saving a bunch of money by buying a Clevo barebone, then buy the CPU from eBay, and then assemble the notebook myself. Has anyone done this before? please tell me about your experience...

Interesting indeed. I just spoke with Justin @ XoticPC; he informed me the individual card won't be available for purchase until the end of the month / early next month. So if it is truly available from rjtech.com, I'll be making a purchase soon :) I emailed them; waiting for a response.

RJTech has been selling the standalone GTX 280M with the M570TU heatsink since the 7th. You can buy one from them for $490. Just email them and they will give you the link to the part on their website.

i wonder if anyone has actually received one yet.
its easy enough to put on their website its now available but is it really or just a ploy to get everyone talking about them.

That's not so bad... considering that you can sell your 9800gtx or whatever for 400 $ (lets say), the upgrade would come at 100$.

Anyone has experience with rjtech costumer service and clevo barebones? Ill make another thread if noone answers...

I have pics of the interior of my 5797 in my review thread now.

I didn't take the heatsink off the GPU... don't feel like tempting fate today
on very little sleep. But it might tell you something.

Why are you cross posting? This is a GTX 280m thread, not a M570ETU thread.

Um because I have a 280m GTX in the machine, and I figured you might
want to take a look at the size or heatsink of the 280m in the 5797?

    Seems relevant to me. ?_?

Yes, and you are indeed right, JGZinv. From your pictures of the GPU heatsink, it seems that Clevo has done a few revisions to it. For example, the mounting arms are in different positions, the copper fins are much larger now, and the two heatpipes look like they're on steroids. Compared to the heatsinks that came with our 9800M GTX's, it is a modest improvement and I might just think of investing in a new GTX 280M sooner than I had planned. Thanks for posting those pics, JGZinv.

And you deserve the rest for all the info you have contributed, JGZinv. When you take off the GPU heatsink tomorrow morning, you will find that Sager has dumped a buttload of thermal paste on the die. Be ready with Arcticlean, MX-2, and a lot of elbow grease.

Update: Jesus Christ, that heatsink looks so f*cking sexy. I just got home and compared a picture of the 9800M GTX heatsink and the GTX 280M heatsink in greater detail and I am beginning to see more of a difference between them now. That card is going to run so cool and overclock like a beast.

This is what I'm talking about. Disregard the little copper blocks.

Thats correct. Just copy the link address and edit the line where it says "BIOS_10.zip" and replace the 10 with 12.

Seriously, that's cheaper than the 9800M GT lol.

Prices are definitely moving in proper direction.

@Soviet do you think there will be problems in fitting a 280M card in a 9800M GT copper case ??

No. I don't think there will be any problems. If you buy the GTX 280M individually, the card already comes with the M570TU heatsink and cage, which should fit your M570RU just fine.

I flashed my machine to the .12 from .10 last night and it works just fine. There isn't much difference from the .10.

Fyi, I've compared the 260M heatsink and my own with the 9800M GT, and they appear to be identical.

When i sent my system back in Jan for repair, they put .12 on it. Works fine for me. Not sure what they did to flash to it. You can contact your reseller for the latest version.
