Hey, I was curious if anyone here has purchased a Clevo from RJ Tech..I know that Gophn has done some business with them, though I can't remember the nature of it. I'm primarily curious if anyone has had any RMA work done with them.

They are the only dealer still offering the M570U set-up that I like, but they haven't had anything reported to resellerratings.com in over 6 months which kind of bums me out.

    Thanks!

Hmm.. well, I'd say if they don't have any BAD reporting in 6 months, just push it off to people being lazy about sharing their experience.. I mean really, how many people honestly report to those things. Most people only even thing about that kinda thing when stuff goes wrong..

If their overall rep is good, you are probably fine with them.

My expierence with them is great, though if you want tech support, the guy running it might be too busy to handle such. There's few others that let you buy barebones like it that can match his price. I believe there's another called rmcomputers or something similar.

He might be too busy? I mean I understand that it's a small operation, but i'm no laptop tech guru, so I'd hope he would offer assistance from time to time.

I've heard nothing but good things about RJTech thus far. You may want to do a forum search for "RJTech".

    RJtech is a great reseller.

If they do not have time to give you support, you can just call Sager, because their barebones units were [more than likely] ordered through Sager and have their serial numbers.

    Gotcha thanks

Hey Gophn, your 7800GTX is 256MB dedicated, correct?

yup, i could swap it out for a 7950GTX right now, but I am hesitant to spend $500 on such a card, when I can get a high-end 8800 desktop card.

I bought my M570U from RJTech back in February. Richard from RJTech was responsive to both my e-mail and phone inquiries. I poured over the RR postings for RJTech, and although they were relatively few & far between, they were overwhelmingly positive. There are plenty of other vendors around this forum that have solid reputations, as well. Speaking from experience, RJTech was very good from both a price and service perspective.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I am wondering, does the D900K use the same GPU's as the D900C? Thanks.

The D900K, D900T, M570U, M590K, M590KE are all the last generation of Clevo modular videocards.
    - nVidia Geforce 6800*, 7800GTX*, 7900GTX*, 7950GTX
    - nVidia Quadro 1500M*, 2500M, 3500M
    - ATI X800*, X1600
Note: *discontinued GPUs for the Clevo's

The upcoming D900C and M570RU has a new modular videocard design.
    - nVidia 7950GTX (new modular design)
    - rumored nVidia 8700M GT

So to answer your question, the D900K does not have the same videocard mdule as the D900C.

But the D900K uses AMD athlon 64 x2 4600 at the same price than the D900C with an E6600, which put on shame the 5000 athlon 64 x2 in Almost all kind of benchmarks.

Really recommended to go for the D900C, Anyway, I just ordered mine :)

supossed to get it aroun 26-27. So impatient :(

I know plenty about the desktop warfare field, that is where I came from ;)

The D900K is cheaper, the barebones can be had for $350 less at RJTech.com than the D900C. At this point in time, I would not buy the D900K, as it is a Socket 939, and uses DDR1.

Trust me, I will be ordering a D900C at the end of the summer when my wallet fills up (then empties again, but I would gladly trade 5oz of paper for 12lbs of pure beast!)

at the end of the summer.... maybe then the 8xxx super high end video card arrives for this laptop, anyway, I plan to have the deskopt version, I'll be happy with the 7950gtx for my D900C.

I got my M570U from RJTech and had to RMA it for a motherboard replacement about 3 months later. The RMA process was far more painless than I expected it to be, given the horror stories about some retailers. All in all, I was without the machine for around a month, which sucked, but I don't think it could really have been much faster...

Whew, I hope I don't have the same problem. Though if I do I just hope it happens in the first year while under warranty. I can deal with being without it for a month, but I'd be lost if a week after my warranty went the mobo fried. :(

Anywho, good to know that they made it relatively painless! My M570U went out for delivery this morning, hopefully I'll get home from work before it gets to the house!

Honestly, I suspect the reason it fried had at least a little to do with running it on a futon (no table or desk where I was) for 3 weeks in a row before it died... since then I've been running it on a cardboard box whenever I'm there. No problems.

Then again, it could have been defective, and when I did some research it was clear I wasn't the only one to have this problem either on the m570U or the m570A. But be careful with it, treat it well, and it should be fine.
