So I received my new laptop - sager np6165 a weeks and a half ago and from the start the fan didn't work. Called and got one shipped and got in a week after I bought it. Installed the new fan and it still doesn't work. So I called xoticpc (where I bought it) and I was told to call sager to get a rma to repair it. Said that the motherboard could be at fault, but everything else works if I use an external cooler.

    So my two questions are:

    1. I've never had to use a rma before. What is it and what's a rough estimate of the time it might take to get repaired. And what would I need to ship it?

    2. Would I send it to sager or xoticpc? I thought I would Send it to xoticpc but they told me to call sager. Is that normal ?

Sager built your laptop, so they would fix it. Otherwise you would send it to Xotic and they would send it to sager, which would take longer. Hope it works out.

I mean no disrespect to Xotic or any other reseller with this comment but I just wanted to say IMO, this is one key point people should remember about making your purchasing decision based on best price only. I'm sure Xotic does all they can to make the customer happy, but I'd feel much better knowing if I bought my laptop from a company such as Mythlgoic - if I have a problem, they are the cats that are not only gonna deal with it... but fix it too. Suddenly that price difference seems like a not so bad gig. :)

No different than if I bought an Apple product from a retailer but being told to contact Apple for an RMA.

No different than if I bought a Lenovo from a retailer and told to get an RMA from Lenovo.

I don't see any issue in contacting XoticPC who will handle your RMA and warranty for you. That's why Sager has resellers, Sager is primarily in building the laptops and go through resellers for warranty/service.

    That's a bit of a loose translation.
