I bought a Sager 8150 through eBay as an open box item from a reputable dealer but unfortunately received a Clevo P151HM1 instead so at this point, I'm looking for a laptop again. I have been checking some sites and noticed that Malibal doesn't have the 6990m as an option anymore for the P150HM and Xotic PC has removed the P151HM1 from their site. Any of you guys know if the market is drying up on the 6990m and the P151HM.

The one reason I am considering sending back the P151HM1 that I received as mistake and ordering a new one is that most places are now offering the 95% screen upgrade for free. This whole thing really stinks now since I am going to be sans laptop while a Clevo is being built.

Everyone is expecting the refresh at some point this week, so all current inventory is being sold.

The refresh is purely speculation though but keep watch for CeBIT news.

6990 stock is indeed drying up. Taking several weeks in some cases to get even a replacement card..

Interesting that they pulled the 151 down. Guess they sold out their stock and are waiting for new gen stuff..?

Edit: ^^beat me to it lol

Well maybe I can score a deal somewhere then. It's too bad that none of the vendors sell ready to ship units.

The P150EM will be miles ahead of the P150HM because of the backlit keyboard, Ivy Bridge, new GPUs, etc. It's probably for the best. It's hard to get special deals on Sager machines since they are already priced quite low as it is.

I would like to go this route but it will be a while before Ivy Bridge actually hits.

That's interesting...I am just in the process of purchasing a P150HM. Hopefully I get my order in time. I would like to wait for the P150EM but I am guessing it is going to be out my my price range.

This is usually unlikely. Units are typically sold until they're no longer available, not offered at a steep discount. There are some exceptions, but it's rare.

The NP8130 (P151HM1) was removed Friday night once Sager phased it out, but it never had the 6990M as an option, it only had the Nvidia GTX 560M. The NP8150 is still up (for now) and has the 6990M as the standard option GPU.

I apologize. I meant that both the 6990m and the P151HM have been removed from some sites. I didn't mean to imply that it was an option on the 151.

Malibal removed the 6990m from their list of available cards on all the models they offer...and I was just considering getting one too, since my birthday is coming up..

I guess I have to wait for the refresh then...

I'm under the impression that when the p150em comes out it won't be that much more expensive than the p150hm. I hope that's true because I'm waiting for the refresh as well.

I ordered my laptop from Malibal before the 6990m got taken down. Since I upgraded my glossy screen to a matte screen and those options are no longer offered, I'm waiting to see if I can get a free upgrade to a matte 95% NTSC screen.

Do resellers plan to sell out old models before announcing pre-orders for next gen models?

Not at all. With all the competition out there (Dell, HP, Asus, MSI, etc) you want to be the first to get it up. As soon as the new models are ready they will be listed.

Do you expect them to be available this week, or just announced?

Why can't you? Don't you just need to upgrade your power supply to 180w? Which brings me to a question, where can you purchase a 180w ps outside of the clevo retailers. They usually are a little salty.

You can upgrade yourself, you'll only need the GPU+Heatsink and the 180w PSU. However, it will most likely cause you warranty issues down the road, so it's at your own risk.

You can buy the power supplies outside of Clevo retailers, but I wouldn't. They tend to be of iffy quality and there are multiple cases on the forums where they've burned up motherboards or melted down.

I have been running a 6990m in my NP8130 since September(or whatever month it was released).

As mentioned, you need the card + heat sink + 180w power supply. The supplier I used is no longer around or I would steer you in their direction.

If you can get the appropriate parts, it is a relatively simple install.
