    Hi,

I've done some searching, but could not find a definite answer to this question.
What's the real thickness of the M860TU laptops?

    XoticPC's site, reselling the NP8660, lists it as being 1.45" - 1.95" thick ( 36 - 50mm).
    Kobalt's site, also selling an M860TU (though not Sager branded), list the thickness as 29 - 41mm (that's 1.14" - 1.61").
Cizmo, yet another European Clevo distributer, also claim 29 - 41mm.

Quite a big difference, and I doubt Sager's branding of the M860TU makes it that much thicker. Other Sager resellers I've looked at list the same dimensions.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm quite interested in real measurements of the Kobalt version, since this is the one I plan on purchasing - assuming it's not actually 2" thick anywhere along the body.

    Thanks!

PS. Not allowed to post direct URLs while having less than 15 posts, so had to remove links to sites listing measurements.

Kosem - You might want to PM Neil@Kobalt. He is active on these forums and helpful :) From what I show the measurements are correct of 14.3" (w) x 10.6" (d) x 1.45" ~ 1.95" (h).

Maybe the diference is in measuring in the back and in the front.

It's a wedge design, so the front is thicker than the hinge, but I got

    31mm front height (1.22 inches)
    49mm hinge height (1.92 inches)

Chimeray, I saw that too - however, I'd like to know why European/US resellers all seem to quote a different size.
It would be real odd if Sager's branding somehow added a whole cm (0.4 inches) to the laptop's thickness.

Clyzm, is that from a Sager?

    Thanks.

It is a Sager, but all of them should be the same size... it's the exact same laptop case.

as Clyzm states, it is the exact same body chassis so the various websites that state different measurements are most probably typo's by the poster.
ive posted the link to the manuel on the kobalt forum in your post thread.

    Cheers, all.

In case anyone else stumbles upon this thread looking for the same answer, Neil from Kobalt gave a definite answer on the Kobalt forums. Since I cannot link to it, I'll quote it here:

Um... but I measured from my desk, not the width of the actual unit, so I was actually including the rubber feet.

    Something seems off.

Clyzm, are you referring to the discrepancy in the thickness of the front - 1cm off? I guess that's a bit less of an issue for me, I was mostly wondering about the thickest part of the laptop.

The dimensions he quotes for the hinge do seem to fit with what you measured, though.

Clyzm has accurate measurements. That 1.92" is with the feet on the desk.
