Details please? What speakers (model of your laptop), how did you change the settings?
I have 5796 and I find the sound being rather weak.

I have the 2.08 Realtek drivers on my 5793.

I opened the Realtek Audio Manager via the little orange speaker in the taskbar. If you're like me and you don't run this at startup, it's c:\program files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVCpl64. In there I simply set the Equalizer (at the bottom) to "Powerful". This seems to jack up the trebles a bit, and while it won't compete with my Macbook Pro anytime soon, it *is* considerably better than the default setting. The equalizer setting appears to hold even after I end-task'd the Audio Manager app. I don't know if it will hold the setting after a reboot.

Oh, and I did not see any WOW setting. I do have WOW enabled (Fn+2 on the 5793's)

Ok, this makes no sense to me, on my 5796, my hotkeys are NOWHERE close to your hotkeys.

I don't have the fan speed Fn controls, and I definitely don't have the SRS WOW enabler, even though my PC comes with it. My manual is also, not surprisingly, lacking in this department. I have a hotkey tray icon, but it, not surprisingly, tells me nothing, and does, absolutely nothing, except tell me when I do an Fn+ command where my screen brightness is, etc etc...

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that has better speakers than this thing, ALTHOUGH, if I go into Winamp and play with the preamp and the Eq, I CAN get the speakers to finally come alive, which makes me think that windows sucks with audio.

Do I just have a completely different set of hotkeys in the 5796? IM SO **** LOST. I WANT MY FAN CONTROL AND SRS CONTROL DAMMIT.

Powerful on the m57xru definitely made a huge difference with regards to the depth of sound. Good find!

    On my 5793..

    1) The fan and WOW hotkeys are not marked

    2) They are *not* Fn+ function key. They are Fn+ NUMBER.

The fan keys are Fn+1 and Fn+3 (note: NOT F1 and F3). WOW is Fn+2.

Any one knows why my 9262 doesn't have SRS WOW?
