Not all cooling pads are the same and there is no such thing as one size fits all. I just ordered my first ever Sager 5160 and would like some suggestions as to what ones are a good fit for this laptop model.

    Thanks.

I'm interested in this for the P170HM / NP8170. A nice one that props it up on my desk :)

I'd suggest just waiting until you've had a chance to use the laptop and check the temps before deciding if you need a cooling pad. If the temps don't run high and you just want a surface to put between your lap and the laptop, that could save you a bit of money versus getting an active cooling pad.

Run HWinfo or some other temp monitor before you decide if you need to spend the money :)

Okay, thanks. :) Never having run a Sager let alone a gaming laptop before I didn't know what to expect.

my 8130 doesn't even get warm. would be silly to use my cooling pad under it. (even when running FSX for extended periods)

I have a cooling pad under my P150HM, but with the fans turned off. The only reason I have it is because it gives it a solid surface to rest on when I'm using it out of my lap (the intake fans are on the bottom). The cooling bit is just superfluous.

I do woodworking, so a year or two ago, I made a number of laptop "desks" for our laptops for easy-chair usage, but I seldom move my laptop off my office desk so I've stowed all of them up in the attic. I can't ever get comfortable using a laptop in a chair on on the bed.

I'd like a good recommendation for on the desk solutions. I've seen some good props where it angles the laptop and it kind of works like a docking station.

Not the most elegant but I suppose they work haha Top 10 DIY Laptop Stands I used to use the feet that come with the Wii Fit controller to prop my laptop up.

Nice. Maybe I can rig something up with fans in it, might as well keep it as cool as possible :)
