Hiya. Over the past few months my p150em's screen has developed 2 rather large red marks that have continued to grow in size since they have developed. They are incredibly distracting are highly prominent when playing games or watching videos.

I've found nothing on the internet about what they could be, really. Stuck pixels were all I could find on the internet, but these marks look nothing like stuck pixels, and all the 'fixes' for stuck pixels have just made it worse.

Any ideas? Will I need to replace it (£105, which I CANNOT afford), or will I be able to fix it, or at least make it less noticeable at all?

    Thanks.

Here's a pic. Kind of hard to see on camera.

    strange one.
weve seen blotches before which were caused by graphics drivers and lines which were caused by dying graphics cards.

    have you overclocked?

also can you post your system spec

can you hook it up to an external monitor to see if its still there.
if it is then its defo the graphics card and if its not its a faulty screen or ribbon cable.

who was your supplier and are you covered by warranty.
as your in the uk from mysn you would have got a standard 2 year warranty but if its from pcs specialist good luck as their warranty is crap and only covers you for 1 year and thats for their standard and upgraded silver warranty.
or was it from another supplier.

I have overclocked, but I've never had any standout issues from doing so... In fact, I had these marks before I started.

    3610qm
    8gb 1600mhz RAM
    2gb 675m

I don't have a cable to hook my laptop to anything, but the mark is still there when my dedicated card is disabled and using my integrated card, so it wouldn't be my card dying, would it?

Unfortunately, yes, I did order from pcspecialist... They were the cheapest custom laptop manufacturer I could find. I didn't realize the warranty was so bad.

I hope it's just a faulty ribbon cable, but I think it's the screen... I'm not sure what's happened.

ive warned many members before about their crap warranty but sadly cant warn everyone.
its not until a situation like thi occurs that proves my point.
just for example if you had of gone with mysn then you would still have full warranty as their basic is for 2 years and covers everything.
you will still be covered for pcs tech advice but if you do chose to rma back to them you will have to pay for courier and parts. the labour is still free as its covered for 3 years. but of course the most expensive part will be the parts especially if its the screen. just hope its not the gpu or motherboard as that could be 300+

you could try clevoweb in birmingham but it will still have to be determined whats causing the problem clevoweb, the one stop source for all clevo and clevo brankded product spares and repairs

Yeah, unfortunately I didn't really think about if anything went wrong... I will definitely NOT be going with PCS for another purchase again.
If it is the screen, could I buy any old 15.6" LED from ebay and replace it myself? Or would I need the exact screen for the replacement? PCS are charging me £70 for the screen and £35 for the repair, so I'd rather buy a screen off ebay for £35 and do it myself.

I bloody hope it's not the motherboard or gpu. I think I'd just end up buying myself a new, tier laptop if it is.

how the hell can they charge you £35 labour if your laptop is covered by three years labour.
you pay courier and parts and they cover labour.

i would threaten them with trading standard or watchdog. bunch of crafty os

    edit

download hdinfo64 from my sig below and run it. close the first box and on the left of the main box is a list. click on the + next to monitor and then click on the lg philips or whatever it shows. on the main screen will be all the details of your monitor.
    hope that helps a bit

    edit edit

i would also write a review here explaining what had happened and how you are being ripped off so as to warn others http://forum.notebookreview.com/reseller-feedback-forum/

It's £35 'collect and return'. Apparently they refuse to send someone over to come and fix it. I'm beginning to miss the customer support/service I got from Alienware/Dell.

Thanks :) I will do. Hopefully I can just put a new screen in myself, aha.

ahh,so the £35 is for the courier and not the repair as you stated.

yup sadly clevo doesnt have on site repairs from any of their resellers. dell is a massive company and can afford to do on site support.
i still wouldnt go back to alienware now even if you paid me but thats another story :)

    Doyle,

Where are you based mate? I'll send you a screen to test if you want. If it works you can purchase it for whatever you'd pay for it on eBay. I've got loads of spares kicking about that I'll never use up.
