As title says, I reformatted my Sager 9170 and I can't make my fingerprint scanner work. One year ago I managed to fix it, but after 10 hours tweaking, this time I'm at a lost. On top of everything Authentec has stopped to support anything outside Apple....

I have tried the drivers on the Sager webpage, and almost any other driver I could Google to no avail. I'm currently running Windows 8.1

    Can anyone provide a hand?

    Thanks!

    yes.
but strange if they are still using the same reader software on new models.

Do they still have Authentec-branded fingerprint readers with their newer models?

Oh ok. I hope this be solved soon as I want to start using my fingerprint reader again. I mean, it is recognized by Windows 8.1 just fine and it can definitely be used to log on to Windows but the software won't install.

I can't use mine to even log into windows. It either never recognizes a good print while registering, starts registering without a finger even there, or simply wont work at all, depending on the driver / software ....

Kevin, which driver version are you using to log into windows 8.1? Is it authentec?

That's weird. Well, I've tried it with both 1.6.1.341 (Authentec from Windows Update) and 1.6.2.035 (Authentec from DriverMaxx but is WHQL-signed) and both worked to log on to Windows.
