At first I ignored it, but now this is beginning to concern me: why doesn't my M860TU go to sleep when plugged in?
I've set the profile properties correctly to sleep after 30 min and hibernate after 120, yet after leaving it on last night I come down this morning to discover it was still running - the only setting it respected was to turn off the screen.
Is there some criteria for "idleness" that I'm not meeting? or is something else amiss? I'm pretty sure it works when I have it unplugged.

there was a few people having problems with sleep or hibernate with the original m860 when it first came out. i know i had a major problem with my m15x with hibernate.
you said you set the profile properties for it to go into hibernation after 120 minutes, how did you do this as in the power option plan it only gives you turn off display, put computer to sleep or adjust brightness.
also with the hibernate have you still got a 2.1gb file when you do a disc cleanup in system tools.
ive just woken up so i might have missed something -
I'm on the M860ETU, fairly recent.
I've tweaked the profile (Balanced) using the "Change advanced power settings", as to not overlook any of the other settings. Hibernation and sleep work fine if I explicitly engage them (either by software, button, or lid close).
Could it be a service is not running?

i have no idea then
sorry.

Thanks anyways, at this point I'm willing to chalk it up to Windows being stupid; I'm going to test it in Fedora now and see what happens.

I actually have the same problem on my Toshiba, although it works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. Usually if I reset the power setting, it will work for a couple of times and then Windows will be stupid and do it again.
A solution to this would be excellent.
