I have had some visual issues while playing games. It's happenes with several games (WOW, Assassins Creed II) so It must be the laptop. I get these protruding edges, like sharp razors flashing across the screen. Either from walls or from items or characters. They happen erratically. And can sometimes be VERY obvious. I'll attach some images. (the last image attached has the glitch on top of the wolf)

I have already reinstalled the video drivers (both the original ones from the cd and the updated ones from the Sager website) to no avail.

    What do you all say??

It may or may not be the machine. I used to see stuff like that when I played Everquest 2. This was on my desktop. The issues would go away if I rezoned, usually. I always thought they were glitches by the game...

What is your graphics settings? If it's too low it might be because the card is too fast for your game causing screen tearing. You might want to turn on v-sync if that's the case. Though it's most likely a software problem.

I have used ANY type of permutation for settings, from highest to lowest. Doesn't work. I have rezoned, it helps for a bit, then starts again. V-sinc doesn't work either. It happens in Assassins Creed II as well, so it's not a software issue.

I take it that there're no other artifacts or flickering that would otherwise be indicative of an overheated GPU?

I have seen this caused by corrupt textures either by memory, HD, or graphics card.

In my experience, that typically indicates vram overclocked one step too far. If your card is overclocked, dial it back a little (or all the way down to stock setting to see if the artifacts disappear). If not, I would suspect the card is defective.

Seems like it would have to be a defective video card. I'd RMA.

Instead of having the entire laptop sent back on RMA, I would try to get them to send you a new Video Card while you ship them back the old one. You will probably get the GTX 285M.
