    Hey Sager-ites,

So, as some of you may know I have ordered my Sager NP8760 from Powernotebooks.com. I am very very excited to be getting this new beast, and the wait/anxiety is killing me.

But, in the meantime, I have also been worried/remorseful in the fact that I may not have chosen the right notebook. I did plenty of exhaustive consumer related research, and I am sure I want this system. However, I still get these waves of emotions.

Granted, this is the first machine I have purchased in awhile. My previous machines were work issued, and my current system is mine, but was provided by my university.

Has anybody else gone through similar emotions after spending $2k+ on a notebook, or am I just a nut?

    Thanks,
    nd

You're just a nut. You chose a very good notebook.

I don't doubt that SS. I think it is just the amount of time I have to wait that is causing all of this. If I already had it, I am sure I would not have any feelings of regret or remorse.

Buyer's remorse is quite common among people who've just made a large purchase. I do agree that it's probably the wait time that's exacerbating things, though. If you actually had your notebook, you'd be too busy playing around with it to worry about whether or not you made the right choice... at least until/if you find something actually wrong with it. :p

February last year I paid $3600 for my np5793 after warranty, extra battery, etc, and not once have I questioned my decision. Still got over a year left on warranty!

The only anxiety I felt was shipping, particularly fear of a damaged/DOA machine, but it came in perfect condition in excellent packaging.

Thanks guys. I agree the wait is killing me, and I would not have any remorse if I had a 100% working 8760 in front of me right now. I am honestly just happy to have found NBR, and more specifically the Sager/Clevo forum. You guys have provided so much information, I can only imagine how much more I will be learning once I get the new system.

Off to work. Thanks again to everyone.

If I may be so bold.. A large proportion of the more knowledgeable/senior NBR users all concentrate around a few select brand/models. Sager/Clevo is one of those. Sager/Clevo is not ubiquitous like some brands, say Dell, HP, Sony, etc.. Most people who end up with these laptops found them by spending a good amount of time looking for the best equipment available.

    You're in very good company.

It's normal for me to feel the same way.

How long do you have to wait for the laptop?

I've received 3 units (2x 8690, 1x 8760) and the average was around 14 business days with ground shipping. I was hit by back-orders twice on two separate units though, so YMMV.

I was a little hesitant after purchasing the 8690, wondering if I made a good decision. After receiving it most of those worries were over, but it had issues that caused me to send it back. Issues that haven't really affected many other users. So I was just unlucky.

I considered ordering another one, but decided on a 8760 after some things said on here by certain users. If I wasn't so unlucky, and there hadn't been any problems with the 8690, I would still have it. With the little I used it, it was downright amazing. So I know the 8760 will be equally amazing. Though I'm still a bit worried that I'll be the unlucky one again.

Donald took care of me and my order. He let me know that due to the holidays, I should be expecting my system on approximately 8 January 2010. Hopefully I can/will get distracted due to work and family during the holidays, and maybe 10 days or so will be a breeze.
Either way, I am excited, and after exhaustive research I was led to a Sager/Clevo. I can tell the Sager community will be a great one to be joining here on NBR.

I think it is partly because they are busy, but majorly because they may be closing, or cutting back there staffing, for a few days around christmas and new years.

When telling your friends all about your new great laptop and its greatness. Try not to get upset when they jokingly say they are going to steal it and replace it with their crappy laptop.

Happens to most people. You'll feel a bit of remorse now and again (particularly when you think about all the money you could've saved on, say, an Asus!). Then once you get the laptop, you might be a bit bi-polar about it: really excited about some features, maybe a little upset or disappointed by others. That's normal.

Since this is a Clevo machine, the exciting features will mostly be speed and power. And just to prepare you, the upsetting features will probably be design quirks like the placement of ports, a couple of keyboard keys not placed where you're used to, and lack of a volume control beyond using the Fn key. These are annoying flaws that never go away, but you get used to them.

But keep in mind, while your Clevo has a few minor quirks, at least it won't have the major flaws of more popular laptops like persistent BSOD issues or unexplained throttling of GPU clock speeds. The Clevo performs like it should. You've got one of the best machines out there, and it's got a lot going for it. You're going to be very pleased with your purchase for a very long time.

LOL Kevin, I know I sound like a head case.

And thanks Histidine. You were the first person I spoke to on the first day of joining NBR. You are like my "Sager Sponsor" lol :p
