Latest repaste is the best so far :D

    Idle = 31°C
Full load, stock clocks (without FN+1) = max 87°C
Full load, stock clocks (with FN+1) = max 81°C

    Yet to test overclocking.

I didn't buy a Sager machine. This is from PWN PCs in the UK. Sager doesn't operate in my country.

My aim is to overclock without hitting the 90's (Celsius) to avoid throttling of clocks. I know it is possible as some people here on this forum have managed temps in the low 80's (Celsius) when overclocked with this exact same Clevo model.

You appear to be right. Both tests (with/without FN+1) were running for 40 minutes. Unigine Valley benchmark on loop. I've just ran it again for an hour and got 88°C max with FN+1 :(

So... max temp 89°C at +135/+500 for an entire hour but STILL throttling. Due to power consumption according to GPU-Z. There's no way to overclock that far without overvolting it seems :(

Great news that temps are finally under control though! :D Stock clocks for an hour testing brought temps to a max of 86°C which I'm happy with as most games won't even stress the GPU like the Unigine Valley benchmark does with 99% load continuously. Problem is, overclocking beyond a modest +97 core will require overvolting, something I'm not sure whether I want to risk...

so ive overclocked again core+135 mem + 200 and temps hit 87 then drop down to 84-85 so im all good now i think time is on my side with this new paste and it might only get better

PS CAKEFISH I sat there an watched it test for 15 mins and with mem @ +200 i dont get any throtleing at all it sits - CORE @ 980 and mem @2700
and after running a few firestrike tests the i found the difference between +200 mem and +500 is 3'c and half a frame a second (average frame rate @+200 is 25.87 to +500 is 26.31 so not woth the the temp increase imo

Seems like i lied to the world i hit 92'c stock again ill retest the OC and see if that goes higher aswell

NEW BETA DRIVERS OUT try them they might help?

Hi guys, any updates on how the temps are looking within the 170/177 sm ? I owned a 780m inside the 170sm and routinely saw temps go up to 91/92c within 30 mins of gameplay or 3 3dmark11 benches. Tried repasting to no avail, ended up return it. Is there any confirmations that a "new type" heatsink from sager fixes the issue? Are they found in the new units that have the fixed 2nd msata port?

Repasted with Mx-2 over the weekend (all I could find cheap locall) and after an hour of playing BF3my temps peaked at 88 degrees . The GPU spent most of the time in the low to mid 80's.

Previously I peaked at 92/93 with only rare drops back into the high 80's.

Massive improvement for me, I can now enjoy the laptop without worrying about temps.

Judging by the reduction Iin temperatures I don't think my AS5 is any good anymore.

i really think that you should wait for the thermal paste to cure first before looking at the measurements, though. At least from my limited experience thus far, depending on the paste, it could affect results by a few degrees at least.

By this you mean the stock paste, right? If yes, I think you're probably right, cuz over the last few weeks, my temperatures have gotten more consistent (aka better), even though the weather here in SoCal has jumped up to like 100degrees lately! My gaming temps for GPU are still around 60s and CPU is in 70s-80s. Not bad, right? I'm really thinking of doing a repaste to IC Diamond though.

Well my paste has definitely had time to settle in by now. I think it is time to check again and see how temps are doing. I'm a bit sad to see Crysis 3 crashes the GPU driver when overclocked, there doesn't seem to be a solution to that other than dialling back to stock clocks :(

I want to see how the machine handles overlcocked temps, now that I have a modified VBIOS installed. I'll test again on stock and overclocked and see what happens...

If ur PSU is 180w it could be the reason of this instability with OC
Really hope my retailer do a good job with the Artic Silver 5 they use and my P177SM doesnt reach 90's in a hot day.

Does anyone know where I could order just a set of GPU heatsink screws for the p150SM / 780M GTX? Is the easiest to just use a reseller or has anyone found something online?

You can get screws from your reseller, you might have trouble with anything like the heatsink assembly or backplate.

Thanks! does anyone know the specification of the p150sm 780M GPU heatsink screws? (only the 4 holding down the GPU core heatsink) Are they M2x4? Dont want to take apart the heatsink to measure right now, as I dont know how many more disassemblies the heads can take ^.^
