I've had my P150HM since March of 2010 and I've just noticed that the strain relief bit attached to the power brick (from the brick to the computer) is cracked open, exposing the wires underneath. The wires look fine, just visible. Anyone know where I can pick up a replacement OEM adapter for cheap? My reseller won't cover it, even though it's under warranty and not due to damage or mishandling on my part. I could just wrap it in electrical tape, but that won't provide the same protection as a non-cracked strain relief cover.

For anyone that has the same brick- the plug comes out of the power supply going to the laptop and has a thicker grooved piece on it for strain relief. It looks to have ripped apart at one of the grooves all the way around. (the black plastic insulator around the internal power wires has been "stripped" back to show the cord underneath).

I think it's due to the stiffness of this piece, since the rest of the power cable is in perfect shape but this piece bends just due to the weight of the cable and cracked over time.

Other than this, I've been impressed with how this laptop has held up to heavy workstation use over the last two years. It might see less use after I upgrade to Haswell + Nvidia Titan on the desktop though.

I think most resellers (even the big name companies) would consider those as wear and tear and not covered by warranty

In any case, I'm pretty sure you could buy from Myhtlogic / xoticpc / lpc-digital and even from Malibal.
there are also sellers in ebay, however I'm afraid to buy there as it's a hit or miss thing even if it's cheaper.

I'm pretty sure you are correct on the parts warranty, I looked after posting and the AC adapter is considered consumable as is the battery, so I'll just be purchasing a new one if I can find someone that sells them reasonably cheap. Either that or make the tape a long term solution.

Yep, those "consumable parts" are not under typical warranty stipulations. You can look at aftermarket, third party replacements, but I've heard bad things from people that purchased them in order to save a few bucks.

Online retailers or third party suppliers of OEM chargers will probably be your best bet.

Thats why I dont like non-flexible cables. The insolation can crack when the cable is bended (even by regular use).
The smaller adapters (like my 120W stock one and 150W universal one) have much more flexible cables.
And its a breeze to navigate those around, cause they are not that hard to bend, compared to the stiff cable of my ex P150HM supply.

The same thing happens to my power supply too. I brought it to a local electronic store a few month ago after a friend fixed it provisionally (for anyone interested, here is a photo of the progress of him stripping the insulation). The guys at the electronic store fixed it, but 3 months later it broke again.
This is how it currently looks like:

Does anybody have an idea whether it's possible to make the cable flexible? Thank you!

My honest advice? Ask Mythlogic about getting a new one. Malibal... well. Ask Mythlogic. They're often very helpful and sell a lot of replacement parts to users who need them. Sager has issues selling to ones who don't have a machine from them, especially if the machine is out of production. For me to get them to even CONSIDER selling me a keyboard for my D900F I need to give them my serial number to prove I have a laptop from them. If I don't, they simply say they don't have/carry anymore and they can't help. I don't know how other companies work with selling older models' equipment; only Sager, Malibal and Mythlogic I can predict.

The 170HM will use a different brick and connector to the 150HM.

You want a 5.5mm*2.5mm barrel type connector 180W PSU.
