    Hi all,

The power supply for my Sager 2092 appears to have died. The computer died on me a couple days ago and while trouble shooting I noticed that the power supply is cold. Normally there should be a little heat to it so I'm almost positive it's dead.

The problems is I'm working in Antwerp, Belgium for a while so I need to find a replacement here. It would probably take forever to get one shipped from the States (customs, etc). I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions as to where/what kind to buy. I have the specifications on the PS but how tight are the tolerances? For example, would 19.5 VDC output be too much.

I have a ticket in to ExoticPC where I purchased it but wanted to see if anyone here had suggestions.

    Thanks in advance,

    SlickFL

contact your vendor, they will cross-ship you a replacement power supply.

According to support at XoticPC they don't cross ship. My options are either send them the defective PS, wait for them to determine it is defective, then wait for them to ship the replacement, or pay for the replacement (+ shipping), ship them the defective PS, then receive the reimbursement for the power supply (no mention of reimbursement of the shipping). I guess that's a form of cross shipment but having to pay for it first kind of bothers me. That's if I was at home and not in Europe.

Maybe I'm wrong or expecting too much but this seems to me like it's not great customer service. I would expect cross shipment and then if it was determined that the PS was not bad they bill me. They have my CC information already as I paid the $1600 for the laptop. I seem to remember other laptop companies doing that in the past (not naming names) but maybe times are different now and they've gotten burned a few times. I would also expect to get a reimbursement for the shipping as the part was defective but there's no mention of that in the responses.

I've also contacted Sager directly to see if there is a distributor in Europe I can work through to get a replacement. If I have to pay for it because I'm here and not at home, so be it but it would be nice if I can find one that would cross ship here ever though I'm not their direct customer.

Maybe Justin will see this and can explain further or point out where I'm wrong. I'm not a happy camper at this point.

SlickFL - I have viewed your support ticket and it appears you were offered both a advanced replacement or to send it in for replacement.

A advanced replacement normally has to be charged or authorized against a credit card to ensure the defective one arrives back. (Sager Policy) (then it is refunded once the defective one arrives) Shipping is usually covered on the return (within the US or Canada). Since this appears to be International, the shipping charges are not covered under warranty. :( If you would like to PM or email me for further discussion, please do. :)

Hi Justin. Thanks for the quick response. I figured that the shipping to Europe wouldn't be covered (but I could hope for a miracle, right :) ). I was just kind of ticked that it sounded like shipping if I were in the US wasn't covered and the options presented didn't sound all that great. Maybe I read it wrong.

I'm in kind of an odd situation and I don't want to sound like I'm dumping on you or XoticPC, I've been happy with you guys so far. I'll contact you directly to see what we can come up with. I'm sure I'll be happy in the end.
