I have replacement value insurance. They are trying to find the "current" version in the Sager/Clevo line for a P151HM1. What would you say is the "replacement" value of one of those with what is currently available or available as a refurbished unit?

What were the specs of the machine they're replacing, and how much did you pay for it at the time of purchase?

Maybe the N155RD1 (sager NP7256). With an i7 and 960m, it would be close to the i7 and x60m that might be in that system. They don't have that model line anymore, so its hard to pin it down exactly. But yes, what are your specs in it? There might be a better alternative.

I feel like this can easily be a moot question when you consider the user-friendly/reseller-friendly customization Clevos are tailored for...

@pat@XOTICPC might have it right, it just depends on what has been changed.

I'd say the 965M based model out of where it sits in the series, the 960M is a much smaller piece of silicon and the 965M is the true replacement to the 460M/560M type cards.

The insurance company is (or should be anyway) obliged to provide a system of equal value to what the OP paid, assuming that's how much it was insured for. We shouldn't assume anything until he gets back with the specifications and price since there's a very good possibility he could get a system with a high-end i7 CPU and a 970M or even a 980M GPU.

The hm151 was the value model of the series so it rules out a lot of higher end kit.

I'd say NP7259, I don't think the HM1 was the exact bottom of the barrel

2820 processor, 16GB RAM, 560M video. I put a 1TB SSD in it recently. I think the Sager model # was NP8130 but could be wrong.

Take the 965m np7259, put it ti 16gb of ddr4, a 1tb ssd and add $250-300ish for your cpu upgrade and that's a similar value IMO.

What about a P650-series (NP8658-S)? Someone elsewhere said that is about the same.

That's got the 980M in it, the equivalent of the 580M model at the time so a fair bit higher.

Are they going to give you something that was similar in price, or something that would be as close of specs? If you are getting one that is similar price, then you might be able to get a P650 instead, just depending on what you paid.

They go by whatever I tell them. :p

I mentioned 2 things to them when they played games last time and that made it so they are a lot less nitpicking. The 2 things? "Bad Faith Insurance Claim" and "State Superintendent of Insurance". I used those things when they tried to avoid paying the claim at all, said that an entry level Gigabyte system was equivalent to my fire-breathing, fully customized P750ZM and then tried to use a system with an incredibly low price from a website based in Nigeria. I kid you not.

I just want to be fair. It is my understanding of my policy that they want to get as close to what I paid last time. Since Clevo/Sager are a special breed of animal, it is easier for me to tell them what is the replacement. :)

Well if they mucked you about then the 970m based systems (or replacements) would certainly be fair ;)

It's good they are listening to you on this case, and not trying to tell you some $500 computer with an Intel HD is the closest option.
