So after about 9 months of ownership, my Sager's top panel has some noticeable wear. The area where my palm sits on the left has some weird pits and discoloration (which I assume is from my palm scraping across it frequently), the touchpad buttons have lost their color, and the fingerprint reader has stopped working altogether. Normally none of these things would be a major issue for me, but I plan to give this laptop to a friend when I get the NP8290 and I'd like it to look semi-decent. I'm hoping some reseller or member here might want to sell me a replacement, and I was trying to figure out the price for such a thing. If a reseller may be able to throw in some kind of vinyl/leather/whatever cover for the panel, I'd be interested in hearing about/paying for that, too.

    Thanks!

You could contact your reseller or sager directly.

I've already contacted my reseller regarding just the fingerprint reader, and they wouldn't send it to me because Sager won't send them the part. I don't have a spare laptop to use while an RMA is processed, so I'd rather do the replacement myself. Do you think requesting the entire top panel would be different?

It never hurts to ask about the top panel. Some parts Sager will send but others they wont. If you ask your reseller the worst they can tell you is no.

It might all be integrated and sold as a single part.

No luck with my reseller. Apparently Sager says that as the notebook is under warranty and they do not consider it a "user replaceable part" that they cannot send it to me. This despite the fact that I said I would be perfectly willing to void my warranty to replace this part myself. So the question still stands: Does anyone here wish to sell me this part?

Understandable, there is always the liability concern. Due to that, your resources are a little more limited. You can try the NBR Marketplace as well; hopefully you're able to get a replacement. :)
