I've got an old D900C from 2007 that's finally starting to go out on me. One gpu's presumably dead (Won't boot up when it's alone in slot A), and the other one causes blue/yellow pixels and stuff to appear everywhere.
After reading some other posts on here, it sounds like I'll probably have to go for an alienware 7950gtx (unless I get lucky and find a Clevo one somewhere, but I'm not seeing one right now), but I'm seeing that you need to flash a different bios or something? What are the details on that?
Thanks!

What do you mean "one Gpu ..... and the other", How many GPUs does your 2007 laptop have?
I personally use the 7900GS which is of the same generation as the 7950GTX (albeit the latter was the flagship card, mine 3rd place for Nvidia line-up) and I think that depending on what games you play, the 7950GTX is a capable card. I'm just not sure you could find it for a price that would justify the upgrade. What are your other specs? -

If you want the SLI, then of course you need to get lucky on finding a 7950GTX compatible board. BTW, it's the same set up as my original Laptop configuration, but I sent it in for the M/B swap and dual 8800GTX Boards upgrade. It might be possible to have a 8700GT board work in the Laptop. I'm sure you can find some threads on that. The 7950GTX is faster than one 870GT. But it would be faster that a single 7950GTX, I believe. You probably will need the newer m/b for any other options.
The progression was from 7950m GTX-, 8700M GT, 8800M GTX, 9800M GT, 9800M GTX and then 280M. Quadro FX73700M will also run on the Platform. But the M/B up[grade was required for 8800m and above. Not sure if the 8700m needed the upgrade. I don't remember that being the case.... AlanP
