Would it be a possibility that a socketed 870m inside a Clevo can be replaced in future with a maxwell 9xxx series card?

If the BIOS support the card it should be ok.

And to add on to this, Clevos have a huge following for modified bios mods.

So likely at some point in time, there should be a bios flavor allowing the card configuration you want (as long as the hardware supports it).

There's also plenty of people who dabble, that if you ask nicely they likely will help you out with a bios mod.

And no, I've never done a bios mod :)

I'm sure if we paid Prema an hourly wage that could be fixed quickly. :p

...one of the reasons I jumped ship and went over to MSI...for now.
The current chassis offered by clevo are below my expectations (low-quality gray paint on the W series and edgy pointless designs on the performance series).

Hopefully they will see the light and offer sensible designs with rounded corners and business-looking front-ends. This is their trump card in a world full of badly designed funny-looking "gaming" laptops. But right now, they just copy Asus and Alienware to disgusting lengths.

BIOS-wise, its a tragedy as well.
