Has anyone done this? If so how do you know which jack to buy and where from. I found jacks on ebay using "Clevo DC Jack" some look like what I need but none specifically say P170HM.

    Any assistance would be awesome.

First, I would suggest contacting your reseller for help setting up a repair.

Second, if you absolutely positively want to fix it yourself, I'd take the current pin (if you have it) or laptop charger to an electronics store and see if they'll have any that match up. It's not the easiest of repairs to do in most cases.

Thanks for the advice, if I wasn't familiar with this type of thing I would probably do just that. But I am very familiar with repairing circuit cards at component level as I had to do that in the military as a Ground Radar System Maintenance Technician.

Bonnie.Clyde thank you for that. This should be of great assistance in getting me on the road to have my laptop working again.
