    Hey guys,

I got a 5792 - T7700 and I would like to replace the thermal paste after 1.5 years with something better than stock.

Unfortunately I am not 100% sure how. So my questions are

    1. Is it very hard?
    2. How do I get the heat sink off the CPU and is it risky?
    3. Whats the best paste? AS5 or what?
    4. Can anyone post a "guide" preferably with pictures showing how to take apart the laptop and get to the CPU and then re-assembly.

I DO KNOW how to actually apply the paste once I get to the CPU as I have done it on desktops before...just never done it on a lappie.

    Thanks.

the cooling guide will answer your question.

its pretty simple to re-apply thermal compound.

Gi with something like OCZ Freeze, Arctic Silver Ceramique or ShinETSU G751. IMHO, Arctic Silver 5 has some issues (separates at medium to high vibration points; requires too many thermal cycles to reach maximum efficiency).

Arctic Silver Thermal Cleaner is simply amazing for paste removal. It busts up even ShinETSU like nothing I've ever seen.
