I just ordered the Intel 7260.HMWG and had a few questions about installation.

    1. What's the best way to pop off the speaker bar in a NP9150? I'm afraid of snapping it...

    2. I know this is a dual band card. Do the antennas come with little covers on them so I can cover the third one, or do I have to tape it?

    3. I'm using Windows 7, and I keep finding older threads about this card not having drivers supported for it. Have drivers been released for Windows 7?

    4. I don't really need Bluetooth. Do I still need the drivers from Intel's site, or will Windows automatically install some?

    5. If I do need the drivers, where can I find them?

    Thanks for any help!

... the intel 7260ac wireless card? Is that what you bought? I can guarantee it works on Windows 7. There may need to be bluetooth driver installs but I cannot remember; I usually just use my driver disc but in your case if the card has bluetooth on it you should be able to find them with the card's drivers.

... whut? What about taping antennae? I'm confused as to why.

Not sure about popping off the speaker bar on that model. You could look at a clevo manual or just call your retailer and ask them. They'll usually tell you how to do it.

The safest way to pop off the bar across the top of the keyboard is poking a screwdriver through the hole in the motherboard next to the GPU fan left to do just that.

Since the cover is at a slight tilt, place a small, flat head screw driver near the top right side (opposite of the power button) in the gap between the cover and top case, and use it to pry the right side up. You can lift it out from there. Try to avoid flexing the plastic. It's not difficult to remove and the clips that secure it are unlikely to break, but still, don't yank it out.

A screw driver through the hole/gap, as mentioned above, also works as long as you can find it.

Are you getting a third antenna? Or do you already have the one installed from factory? The antennae typically come with a sleeve that slides over the terminals. You don't need to tape anything down as you can tuck any extra antennae under the top case.

Yes, there are drivers for it for 7 and 8. There were some problems about a year ago with the drivers, but they've improved.

I don't think there is a native Bluetooth driver for this for Windows 7. You don't need the Bluetooth driver if you don't want it; the WLAN driver is separate.

I see the link to Intel's site is already listed per Marecki's post. :)

Thanks for the help everyone. Unfortunately two out of five of the screws that held the keyboard down were so tightly wound, that I stripped them. Looks like I won't be installing this card anytime soon unless I can figure out how to get these screws out. :(

If they're not too badly stripped, try using a rubber band with your screwdriver to fill in the gaps. The worst case scenario is you'll have to make a minor incision on the screw head so that you can use a flat head screw driver.

I had to do the file a groove in method before. Just make sure to blow any metalic dust out obviously.
