    Hey everyone,
I have a Clevo P151-HM1 that I bought from MALIBAL a few years ago. The relevant details are:
    • Windows 7 HP 64-bit
    • Intel i7-2630 QM
    • NVIDIA 560m GT w/ 1.5 DDR5 VRAM
    • 8GB RAM
    • Intel Centrino n-6230

My issue is with the Centrino n-6230 card. This is a card that has had a lot of problems ever since it was released. I have been able to cope with it until now but it has gotten to the point where it disconnects from my WiFi every 20-30 minutes. I tried replacing the driver with a version 14.xx driver and still have not seen a solution. I was considering replacing the card itself.

    My question:
How difficult is this to do? (So far the only experience with the hardware on this laptop that I have is removing the fans and heat sinks for the GPU and CPU)
Also, which wireless cards will work with my laptop? (I do not know what motherboard it uses or if that is even an issue)
I don't need anything fancy. Just a wireless card that will work with my laptop and not disconnect all the time.

    Thanks!

Changing the wireless card is very similar to RAM except it has a couple antennas connected to it, which snap right on and off.

You can use the new Intel AC 7260 or go with Bigfoot 1202.

    UPDATE: SOLVED

Hey guys I am still having a lot of trouble with this. I installed the card and it is not being recognized by my computer nor will the drivers finish their installation. Any idea what may be causing this problem?

    Driver Error.jpg

Edit: I also just attempted to put my original intel centrino n-6230 back in and install its drivers. The wifi still does not work and when I go to Device Manager>Network adapters>Intel(R) Centrino (R) Advanced-N 6230 I see that wonderful little triangle with an exclamation point. It also says under properties "This device cannot start (Code 10)"

Edit 2: I put in the drivers disc given to me when I bought my laptop and reinstalled the chipset drivers from there. This then allowed my computer to automatically detect and install the driver for my n-6230 card. It is still not working with my new 7260 card.

Edit 3: Still was not installing the driver correctly. I got mad and unplugged the ethernet and was going to power down my laptop. All of a sudden it could connect to wifi. I really dont know why but the point is it works so I am happy!

When I upgraded my Sager NP8130 (P151HM1) wireless card I had to make sure that the card seated well, because at first I got a similar behavior to what you described. Also make sure that your antenna wires are well connected because disconnects can be caused by the antennas coming loose enough to occasionally disconnect. I'm running the 7260 on my Sager NP7338 (W230SS)... I think you'll like it.
