Hey guys!
My idiotic stupid half wit of a dumbsh!t friend dropped crap on my keyboard and basically fked up my number pad. Is there anyone who can point me in the direction as to where to buy a new keyboard and approx how much its going to cost me? I'd like to replace it with the original type unless someone can convince me of something better.
Also, is there any way for me to do this myself or would i have to go to a 'tech guy' to do it for me?
PS- This is a 17" so its the keyboard with a number pad on the side (that pad got fked btw).

Here's the keyboard. It probably takes no more than a minute to remove your old one and put the new one in. http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np579x-keyboard-p-2585.html

Holy , 75 bucks for a keyboard...
Wow, I guess I need to be prepared for the arm and a leg I'm going to loose to replace my gpu and screen.... -
As for needing a "tech guy", absolutely not. It takes a few seconds to replace the keyboard and it is certainly not worth paying someone to do it. If I remember correctly, my manual came with instructions on how to remove the keyboard so yours should to. If not, you should easily find a guide online or one of us could help you.
You could try removing the keyboard and just cleaning it (assuming that the "crap" he dropped on the keyboard was some sort of liquid that damaged it - as opposed to physically damaging it). I dropped some hot chocolate on my Sager a few years back and it screwed up a few keys. But cleaning it fixed the whole problem, so I still use the original keyboard now and it's working fine. Just a thought before you spend 75$ on it.
Good luck.

Hey guys, thanx for the response.
I just pulled off some of the keys and the juice he dropped has totally infiltrated all those tiny nooks and crannies under the key. I doubt i could clean it up even if i tried. But yeah 75$ bleh .. but i love this machine so much and i DO use the number pad so everytime i hit a button there, i get this sick feeling in my stomach.
Hmm I remember reading all the stuff that came along with the laptop and i dont think there was a manual on replacing the keyboard. Is there anything here on these forums that could help? Outside links would be helpful too. -

Here you go. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=429455
The same method applies to every Chicony keyboard Clevo has used since I was still in diapers. -
I dont know if it is compatible, but I have three extra D900K keyboards. I am sure you can swap the keys and the plastic snaps from one keyboard to another. I have them in my for sale thread. If you need, I can take dimensions of the individual num pad keys to see if they can be swapped.

I spilled about 2 ounces of water on my 570 keyboard early this year. It made a quick click sound and shut off. I immediately unplugged and took out the battery. I let it dry for a day and turned it back on. Ran stress tests and it worked perfectly. Miracle.

You followed procedures correctly. I applaud that, hyperbolic. You are one of the few disaster victims that I know that knows how to handle themselves during the flood. +1 rep for you.

The service manual (in my sig) details how to remove the kbd.
Try removing it, cleaning it (even submersing it in water/using rubbing alcohol - just make sure it is 100% dry before putting it back...) and the reinstalling it.
