When I recommend Clevo/Sager notebooks to members in threads in the What Notebook Should I Buy forum, the most tedious aspect of doing so is that I must always explain to the user that he needs to select an Operating System on the configuration page in order to obtain the proper base price.

Most resellers who sell Sager/Clevo notebooks set the default option for Operating System to None. This is fine by itself, but the process of recommending these notebooks would be quicker and less tedious if there were an option to create saved configurations like HP offers or if there were an option to pass in URL parameters ("_GET" variables) to automatically select certain configuration options like Dell allows, so that I could just send a link to the configuration page with Windows 7 Home Premium already selected.

For example, if you add the string "&m_5=FHDLED" to the end of the Dell XPS 15's configuration page URL, then it will automatically select the FHD screen upgrade when the page is loaded.

How feasible would it be for resellers to implement such a feature? Or please let me know if such a feature already exists through some resellers.

    Secondary notes:
    - It also doesn't help that some resellers bury the Operating System deep down on their configuration page so that it isn't immediately obvious to the buyer that the notebook does not come with an operating system unless the option is selected.
    - It would be nice if this feature applied to all configuration options instead of just the operating system, because I typically like to recommend the Sager NP3260 (Clevo W250ES) in configurations that include the upgraded 1920x1080 display instead of the stock 1366x768 display.

Hi edit1754, firstly - I want to say that I have seen you around on this forum and other sites, and you are simply one of the best at helping people find the right notebook, sincerely. You are extremely organized and thorough in your posts - I'm very impressed.

In reply to your question, yes - we do have a feature like this on our website. If you click the "Save Quote" button and create an account, when you load the quote - it will give you a unique URL (&idconf=483945) that reloads the configuration you saved. :)

I came here to post this. I just recently came across the suggest a laptop subreddit, and edit1754 is simply awesome. I try to give people solid advice, but I don't think I will ever be quite at your level. But anyway, the save a quote feature on Malibal's site is very useful. In fact, their site is one of the reasons that I decided to go with them for my new laptop. It's really clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate compared to pretty much all of the other resellers sites.
