    Preliminary: I have the LG matte screen (in sig) with 8150. I thought this would be sufficient for my uses but i would rate it at below the quality of my old HP dv9000's monitor (whatever brand that was). Plus I am seeing pillaring and uneven lighting.

    Q1: Should i upgrade now to the B156HW01 V4 for the 8150? Now being the keyword! I wish to know if 120hz panels are on the way (I could not find information on this). If this is only more than a year later, i couldn't wait.

    Q2: Any ideas on what i can do with the LG matte screen once i replace it? Can i make some money on it? How? Where?

    Q3: screenintaipei is selling this AUO panel. I am in Singapore, a stone's throw from taipei. I could get it in a couple of days. Any other options where i could buy from? Could you share your experience with this/other sellers?

    I will be waiting for your suggestions before deciding anything. Thanks in advance.

    1. 15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) Matte 95% NTSC Color Gamut LED Backlit LCD Matte is a really good choice to go and i haven't heard any complains from those who purchased it! Don't know about 3D screen option available any time soon, but you can write any Clevo reseller, they might enlighten you with some info about upcoming models and upgrades.

    2. While you have a matte FullHD screen at your disposal (wich i assume is not the worst case scenario)- ebay is a right way to go or try a marketplace at NBR, somebody should take it eventually.

    3. You may check lcdtech889, bumblesale, browngranite they have a pretty high feedbacks on ebay. But screenintaipei is kinda trusted on this forum.

    I really want to purchase the same screen but for my DELL Inspiron N5110 and experiment with that laptop first, before going to serious models like NP8150, etc. I've heard from Fortnax reseller in Canada that back-lit keyboards on Clevo laptops should be implemented some time this summer, can't wait...

    Good luck

    Thanks a whole lot for the information. One more question:

    After installing the monitor is there some special "calibration" that needs to be done??

    The 120Hz screen is already on for preorders on the 17" Clevos. But I don't think it'll be for the 15" models.

    If you want some pictures of the AUO v4 screen in an NP8150, there's some in my review in my sig :) . Feel free to check it out. I had people complimenting how the screen was very very bright, colourful and crisp.

    Yes it looks like you will have to do some screen calibration. If you look at some of the images in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-between-different-screen-options-photos.html you will see that they use a Spyder 3 which is a screen calibration tool they even say that the images have been "calibrated".

    Check out this video for the Spyder 3

    You can get free software to calibrate the screen as well but I doubt it would do it as good as a professional tool.

    Isnt the v5 the 95% gamut matte and the v4 the 70% gamut matte?

    V.4 = 95% matte
    V.5 = 95% glossy.

    Also, I have a calibrated color profile for the V.4 screen, if you need it.

    Is the calibration of a monitor (using software and calorimeter like SpyderPro3)
    (a) some hardware level permanent color calibration of the lcd panel
    or is the process
    (b) just an adjustment of the RGB color sliders on the Nvidia/Catalyst Control panels?

    If it is (b) does this mean if you uninstall and re-install GPU drivers, a re-calibration will be required?
    (just trying to fill the gaps in my knowledge)

    I’m going with (a). What I understand is that if you don’t calibrate it then you won’t get the best out of the screen. Check out this video to see the before and after calibration.

    I’m kind of in the same situation as you I’m going to get a screen of ebay and install it myself, I will then use SpyderPro3 and calibrate it either way you only need a color profile :D
