Im sure this question has been asked many many times but Im looking for a freshly updated answer...
So I want a P870DM. My main question is regarding the variants. Is there any manufacturing difference when it comes to a Sager, Eurocom, or a smaller brand like HIDevolution? Is there different quality control or does Clevo handle all of that? Has the design of that hardware been altered by these resellers?
Also does the warranty work with any of these? Is there a top recommended brand?
Im excited to jump on board with one of these nice systems but a bit overwhelmed by how many resellers/brands of the same machine are out there. I am totally not used to seeing this lol.
Thanks in advance!

Their global warranty is awesome for international customers like me as it covers shipping both ways if anything goes wrong with the system.
furthermore, they offer components to configure with the system not available with other resellers like faster RAM from G.Skill, factory delidded CPUs for lower temps and even Silicon Lottery CPUs if you want to take your system one notch further to get the max overclocking possible.
Their EVOC lineup comes with the PREMA BIOS and VBIOS for free.

Configure as you please, you can always upgrade everything later it's very easy, that's what I did with my system, I got the 64GB 2800 MHz RAM after 2 months and I got the Skylake 6700K Silicon Lottery.....

geez @Phoenix I wonder who you are associated with lol, I really like XoticPC.com @pat@XOTICPC has always taken care of me never had any problems super fast shipping and customer service

Also, this is a fact, no other reseller offers components like HIDevolution, who has G.Skill 2800 MHz RAM?? or even 2666 MHz G.Skill RAM? no one but HIDevolution, they all use the stock 2133 MHz or best I've seen was from Eurocom they use Kingston 2400 MHz. RAM
Next comes the CPU, who delids your CPU and still covers it under warranty? no reseller in the world does this other than HIDevolution. Which reseller has Silicon Lottery guaranteed overclocking CPUs? Sure you can buy the CPU yourself but it won't be covered under warranty. HIDevolution will cover it under their warranty.
It doesn't need anyone to be really intelligent to see the difference in quality and service levels. They go above and beyond above any other reseller I have seen not just at the sales process, but even with warranty claims and what not.
Before knowing about HIDevolution, I was in contact with Pat from XOTIC PC I was gonna actually buy the Clevo P870DM-G from them initially but then had to cancel my order as they do not accept Pay Pal for international customers, only wire transfer so HIDevolution happily took my money via Pay Pal and shipped the system within3 business days
PS: Even though you see that I own a Eurocom system, it was actually bought from HIDevolution, I asked them to get it for me because back then they weren't a Prema Partner so they didn't offer the Prema BIOS. I did that to have the Prema BIOS yet still get the awesome warranty and service from HIDevolutioni_pk_pjers_i likes this. -

I have always liked Eurocom, I love how close they are to me - only a 3 hour drive. Super fast build time and shipping time, no complaints with Eurocom. I recommended Eurocom to a couple friends who also have no complaints with Eurcom and are perfectly happy with them as well.
With that said, I don't think you can go wrong with any reseller - they're all good.Last edited: Apr 25, 2016Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Just to be fair to everyone. If you check out HIDevo's facebook page you will see a bunch of people that are not very happy with them. -

The core Clevo models between resellers are going to be the same, but might be some variation in pricing, warranty, etc as mentioned. There may be a little variation of upgrade options between companies as well. Be sure to check each company's website, and if you have questions there are people here with feedback from each company or company reps as well. If you do have questions on Sagers, feel free to let me know and I'll be glad to help where I can.

It was not just me for one, many have posted comments here and there regarding the legitimacy of the source of his info.
The posts that have been done from him seem very over the top. If they are legit I can tell you they are back firing as it does give an impression of shill
They also seem to be in stark contrast to some reviews posted about this company on a couple review sites including their own facebook page.
Now with that said I also maybe paranoid... With good reason though; This high end laptop niche part of the industry doesn't exactly play fair all the time. Everyone wants a piece of the pie.
If you look at this post discussing the opposite of my concern here which was posted by Prema.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...01-over-20-months.786062/page-2#post-10179204
In this post he suggest that competitors pretend to have dealt with resellers and speak badly about them to lower the rep and PR of said company.
I have personally seen and experienced exactly what he mentioned on eBay. I have seen re sellers buy Dell / Clevo products so they could obtain the serials to get the order numbers, to then get the main distributors sales reps info. In some cases these competitors reported the sellers for violations they were not doing simply to get their accounts frozen etc. Sounds far fetched?
Its fact, it happened I have personally seen it.
So since this is big business nothing seems far fetched to me.
I mean no offense in anyway. I just feel that the posts were so very over the top even for someone very happy with a company.
So now that Im considering dropping 3k on a laptop I want to make sure I'm buying from the best re seller I can. If indeed a re seller is doing some shilling then I dont to buy from them at all.
Unless of course they admitted it... That would blow me away as I would never expect them to admit to that.I would have mad respect for them then and probably would consider buying from them.
Real talk.
Anyways back to the topic at hand.
So my main question is this. If fhey are the same exact hardware just rebranded; Is the warranty the same or different depending on the reseller? -

my first laptop from HIDevolution was the Clevo P870DM-G, that got stolen after a while and when I got it back with the help of the police, HIDevolution offered to buy it back from me which was a great help since I have already bought another Eurocom Sky X9 from them.
Regarding quality, when placing the order for both the Clevo P870DM-G and the Eurocom Sky X9 which were both bought from HIDevolution, I mentioned to them in the customer notes "Please check the screen well and ensure there is no IPS Backlight Bleeding" because I have had enough with my previous Alienware 18's horrible backlight bleeding which caused Dell to replace the screen twice then finally replace the entire laptop.
I received both the P870DM-G and the Eurocom Sky X9 with perfect screens and 0 backlight bleeding. Their quality control in my books is very good.
Also see how perfectly they applied my Liquid Ultra Paste on the CPU in this image which they sent me live via Skype as they were building the system and even had me login to it to personalize a few settings/tweaks in Windows so that when I received it, it was ready to be used out of the box
My review of that first machine is here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p870dm-g-review.784082/
If I want to search and copy/paste bad threads about various re-sellers, I have 10s of them, it's not always rainbows and butterflies but this is my experience and they made me happy every time even after sales when my keyboard keys just popped out, they sent me replacement keyboards twice with no cost of shipping even and this applies to any components that may go bad since I have a 3 year global warranty on my machine.
Good luck with your choiceTBoneSan and i_pk_pjers_i like this. -

I don't think he's a shill, he just seems to be a very happy customer.
No resellers are doing shilling of any kind, and the honest truth is you will very likely be happy with any reseller you choose to go with.
As for your question, yeah, different resellers can have different warranties and I would say just research the warranties of each reseller you are considering if that is something that is really important to you.TBoneSan, Omexis, Ethrem and 1 other person like this. -

Edit, OK, I found a section on the 'left' for reviews. Overall, it seems pretty positive. A problem with shipping from someone who ordered thru Amazon, and a troller - "Rajraj Rajp". Everything else seems to be on the up and up.Last edited: Apr 26, 2016i_pk_pjers_i and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Well, its not just @Phoenix who has had good experiences with HIDEvolution, i bought my system from them as well it was a great experience and i recently had to send in my graphics card for RMA and their reps have been trying to do their best to make it as fast as possible understanding that i use this system for work. This is one of the advantages of going with somewhat small businesses like HID/ProStar/RJTech etc etc. They help you out as a very valued customer.
Your mileage will definitely vary.
My friend recently bought a system from XOTIC PC because he wanted a standard sager and didn't care about the bells and whistles. And @pat@XOTICPC helped us out a lot, and XOTIC PC delivered the system way before the estimated ETA.
Here is the the thing when it comes to positive feedback, people do not feel the need say anything positive when they are satisfied, but only when they are angry or dissatisfied, do they come out and pull focus that they can get their job done faster or want to know how and what to do. These things pile up over time.Last edited: Apr 26, 2016TBoneSan, Papusan, i_pk_pjers_i and 2 others like this. -

Why has no one mentioned Rjtech? I've used them exclusively. They tend to have the cheapest prices of all the re-sellers and you have the option to buy a completely barebones system which is something I haven't seen offered anywhere else.
Plus they have a fantastic ready to ship selection of laptop parts for current and older Clevo models. For example, I just bought a p570wm SLI cable from them and it was as simple as going to their site, selecting the cable and checking out - haven't seen that really anywhere else.i_pk_pjers_i and bloodhawk like this. -
I also agree that @pat@XOTICPC over at XoticPC has been very helpful, I have had very very positive experiences with Xotic and I can't see any reason to use a different company for future purchases, and I can be a picky, demanding customer

I bought my P150EM from Malibal. They have a terrible reputation on these forums. Ironically, I've had no issues with it whatsoever. I've had it for 3 years, the only "maintenance" I've done was replacing thermal paste.

It wouldn't have made a difference for when I bought my Clevo, since HiD wasnt offering these options or prema at the time. 6 months ago there was hardly any difference between any of the resellers.
But I got mine from Mythlogic at the time. They get a lot of flak for being slow, which they are, but they ship a quality product. Comparing companies nowadays, HiD really has this reseller game on lockdown.i_pk_pjers_i likes this.
