After considering getting the 95% color gamut screen upgrade from Mythologic (but not wanting to give up my place in line in the end), I was wondering if any resellers have 120hz panels for sale separately? Could I buy a 120hz panel to replace my stock one (and if so, how much would they cost?)? This would be awesome because I'm getting the 485m and would be able to use my 3D vision setup without needing to hook up to my external monitor.

Or at the very least, does anyone sell the 95% color gamut screen separately? If so, how much for it? Is it also possible for me to pay to have it swapped somewhere if I wanted it?

EDIT: Even if you don't sell it, any ideas on part numbers or anything that I should search for to find one? I don't know much about finding aftermarket 15" panels.

The part number is B156HW01 V.4 by AUO.

You can buy one from mythlogic, try PM'ing them. :D

Is that the 95% color gamut screen, or is it a 120hz model? (or both!?) I'd much prefer the 120hz over the color gamut if it's even possible.

Last I heard from Mythlogic the 95% gamut screens are not being produced anymore and his stock is barley enough to handle pre-orders so goo luck trying to get a 95% gamut screen from them!

You are correct good sir. I contacted mythlogic directly to ask. They're sold out of the 95% color gamut screens now and as for 120hz, they can get the screen, but the trade off is that it's only 1366x768 instead of the full 1080p. Not worth it all. I'll just keep 3D Vision on my connected external monitor until they can do a 15.6" 120hz screen at 1080p.

Since mythlogic isn't selling the screens anymore and I'm pretty set on malibal... how hard is it to install a screen yourself? I think I found the same on on ebay as a brand new replacement part for $119 (for the high quality v4 screen) Please correct me if I'm wrong though.

How much to buy just the screen? I'm getting some special considerations from Malibal and I don't want to give up my spot in line. I tried to contact xotic through chat today but I ended up in line for quite a while before I had to leave work.

I've replaced screens before in older laptop models, but never a Sager. I hope it's fairly straightforward as I suspect.

I am sorry we do not sell the screens by themselves, they are reserved for full system orders.

looks like ebay is your best bet so far.. i dont think it'd be too difficult to replace the screen. i know myth includes photos of the build with their orders so maybe they have extensive teardown pics that would show it?

*hint, hint!!* (post some if available MYTH. dont feel limited to only screen tear-apart ones either :D)

i was suspecting that the 120hz 15" screens wouldn't be FHD, but i thought i'd wait and see what people came up with..

Well even if they don't, I may just order the screen after I get the laptop and make my own guide for everyone else. I did that sort of stuff professionally back in hs a few years ago. Shouldn't be too hard now :D. That way those of us that were hesitant to give up spots in line can do it ourselves

That'd be nice.. I know i always enjoy seeing a thorough video tear down of a computer I'm interested in. Helps me get a grasp on build quality, placement of parts, where the heat's going to be, etc.. Stuff even a mild enthusiast would enjoy knowing

There are rubber feet that can be pryed off carefully, which exposes 4 screws in the front of the panel, and the rest is sliding a card into the sides to pop out the front screen cover.

This apparently holds for many laptop manufacturers.. convenient way to hide screws, and yet easy to tear down. :D
