I didn't find another post like this, so I hope this is not a rehash. Little over 2 years ago I bought a 9880 from a reseller with a high ResellerRatings.com Customer Satisfaction Rating of like 9.7 something serving many customers. The company was Portablez.com based in Nebraska like Xotic PC. But of course they are gone now as some of you may know. Actually they have been gone a while now. The question is will the likes of XOTIC and Powernotebook be around in business? I hope Justin and Donald chime in on this too.

The above sums it up pretty well. You can't stay in business if you get no business.

While the above statements are true it also comes down to how companies service their customers. If companies know how to take care of their customers before and (more importantly) after the sale it will help ensure their survival. Service is vital with XOTIC PC and surely with PowerNotebooks. We are both companies that provide 24/7 Support and have a strong commitment to maintaining the highest levels of customer service at all times.

Thanks Justin, I think this is true too. So if a reseller leaves the business for what ever reason then we would just look to Sager for all issues, right?

Exactly. :) What you gain with a Sager Reseller vs. a "re-brander" is your system 100% backed by the reseller & Sager at the same time. :) With a "re-brander" the barebones is the only thing warranted by Sager. (since they only purchase the barebones from them). Items customized such as CPU, RAM, HDD & other items would not be warranted by Sager.

At PowerNotebooks.com we are about to start our 10th year of enjoyable, debt free, profitable business. While no one knows for sure what will happen tomorrow (sadly the Bhutto assassination is an example), we expect to remain in business for years to come.

The good news is the market flushes out the businesses that do not provide proper service and support to their customers. Over the years we have seen several come and go, and it seems like the ones that end up "going" start out offering prices and warranties that are too good to be true, and sure enough they end up fulfilling the prophesy. Those customers that fall for the "too good to be true" deals soon find out that they were indeed too good to be true. Providing proper service and support costs money, so don't think that the lowest price will provide you with the best value, and a reseller that will be there for you when you need them.

At PowerNotebooks.com we will be here to serve you whenever you are ready, and whenever you need us.

wow. now was that well put or what. :)

If you were not sure about these great Sager resellers now, then you should be now. it is all QFT for sure :D

Congrats on the 10th anniversary Donald. Powernotebooks' reputation shows why its still going strong.

I think this is my last question on this topic, take for example XoticPC who offers 3 years Parts and Labor warranty for less than 1/2 of what Sager price is. Let's say you took this warranty and say per chance a reseller went out of business before the 3 years are up, are you out of luck? Or would Sager honor the warranty. Also, what if you were to sell your system to another, can the warranty be transfered to the new owner like you can with a Dell?

The added warranties are through a 3rd party company, who services the contract, not Sager or the reseller. The warranties are transferable.

correct, the "big 3" will be around since they are the one selling barebones to everyone else to re-brand.

    Justin,

I have a question about your warranty. I added the three year option. Where is the information pertaining to the 3rd party company? I did not receive any documentation about my warranty with my computer.

    Thanks.

So far, I'm pretty satisfied with the service I've gotten with my NP2090. I did have some LCD troubles earlier (some dim backlighting or something) and I gave Powernotebooks a ring and they suggested I contact Sager for such issues. Because of their relative close proximity to my residence, I simply drove up to City of Industry and hand-delivered my laptop to have its screen replaced. The process is smooth and I should have my laptop by Wednesday (a bit slowed down due to New Years :p).

Service like that couldn't be done from huge companies and their bureaucracies indeed. :)
