Well, the guy does not seem to be addressing the problem of the delays. (I wonder what message vitalik did send.) On the other hand, he deserves kudos for answering at all.

But I think it would be nice to moderate the language criticism. A good number of native speakers of English cannot write their own mother tongue properly. Here we have a guy whose mother tongue is most likely Chinese trying to bridge the gap between languages from two very distant language families. (In the sense that French is closer to English than Chinese is.) He was probably picked to answer the email not because they consider him to be Shakespeare over there but because he's a person who handles English well enough for communication to be possible.

    Hello,

I am writting on behalf of your many customers who are waiting for a long promised Compal IFL90 and the rest of Santa Rosa line up. We are waiting and waiting patiently, some of us for 3-4 month on backorder. Most of the customers are very upset and ready to cancel their orders. These customers are owners of previous models of Compal with good impressions of your company which is about to change if we do not hear from your representatives.

Please, a word from Compal would make a difference. Most of your customers can be located at http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1017 and http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1030.

    Thank you.

Maybe someone who speaks Chinese should translate it and send it in. The reply looks like he didnt quite understand the whole message.

You really grabbed them by the neck with that email. Sounds like they gave the task of responding to that to someone who really wasn't suited to the task.

That would mean that Vietnamese would be closer to the English language. Because Vietnamese is derived from Chinese, but influenced by the French.
Have you ever tried to learn Vietnamese? I don't know, because i grew up learning the language, but my friends say's its a BI***.

Furthermore, it would seem that the email was blown off. Maybe he did it on purpose, because Chinese has a high second language rate. That of which is English. So i really don't understand why this response was so poorly written.

I've read an article that China suffers a bad case of Chinglish, which stems from the fact that Chinese and English are radically different languages, so using a translator tool of some kind would pump out illogical and strange English sentences, much in the same way if we were to use translators to convert to Chinese. Either the writer of this letter did that, or from his limited experience in English tried to piece something together but didn't work out.

But I do agree with you that the e-mail does seem to be blown off, probably because we are small fry compared to the companies Compal deals with, like Dell.
