Hi all, i've been looking into buying a gaming laptop for about 2 months now and have finally settled on the clevo m860tu with the 9800m gt, 4gb of ram and the 2.53ghz processor from rock direct as the m15x was too risky for my liking. I'm on a budget of about £1500.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any rock student discounts available (i'm in the uk btw) and if the 30 day zero dead pixel protection was worth the money?
Thanks
DK

About the 30 day zero dead pixel ... if you purchase your laptop with this option, they will check your screen for dead pixels, if not, they won't check it and you may have surprises once you get your new laptop (you may have 2-3 dead pixels). It happened to me last year with a Toshiba ( i had 2 dead pixels) and I felt really sorry about not purchasing this option.

why on earth pay rock prices, save yourself 4 tonne and buy from Kobalt. lol
-
Because from kobalt it costs £100 more, i get 2 yrs less warranty, and i get a game with the rock 2 (not too bothered about this but its a nice thing to have anyway)
Btw will the rock have bluetooth -
It is quite an odd thing I must agree, on some configuration Kobalt beats Rock, and on others Rock beats Kobalt. The SLI system offered by Rock for instance beats Kobalt by quite a bit. Kobalt said though they will update their website with the new 9800gt sli soon, so price should adjust too.

Only reason i wouldnt buy from Rock at the moment is they only just come out of administration. Kobalt are good guys and offer great customer service.
Plus im not overly sure where you got your prices from.....Rock £1657.88 / Kobalt £1697.32 The other thing i would mention is that Kobalt offer the latest P processors with a lower power draw than the T series processors, something that Rock currently are not offering -

De@thknight for the small amount of money you are talking about, why risk it? They dodged a bullet 2 months ago and are now under new ownership. What good would an infinite warranty be from a company that is half under 50% of the time?
