Pre-sales support is indeed very good and very fast.
Only thing is ... if you want your money back, it can take a few weeks before things get sorted out.

that depends on your payment method too, the thing is that it's too bad that they have extra's i don't want to pay for... like the hd stuff or the 3yr warranty. the gpb is worth more than the euro so that doesnt help either.

Well, I don't know about the credit card, but if you pay by bank transfer, it takes a lot of time to get your money back.
And it isn't the banks fault :)

    What's this "Rock" ?

EDIT: Googled it, but how is this related to Sager ?

Is Rock better than Sager from XoticPC ? price wise ? reliability ?

    X770 vs. Sager NP5792 ??

sager, xoticpc, rock, powernotebooks, etc they are all re-sellers of clevo notebooks.. so they are all offering the same notebooks. they just name them differently... http://www.clevo.com.tw

still, depending on where you live, xoticpc may be cheaper.

like for me: i could get it so cheap as the dollar is extremely low compared to the euro, too bad i have to pay VAT when importing one.

ROCK does offer the most complete package in my opinion.

Okay I get it. So how do Rock prices compare with xoticpc between rock X770 and Sager np5792 which I guess is the same thing.

I know xoticpc has a good reputation, but does Rock? is it reliable ?

rock is reliable, they even have their own active forum and lot's of sales rep's are on it everyday. their warranty is also insurance backed, so if the company might ever get in trouble, you still have your warranty.
for your prices, just configure one and then check your price using www.xe.com

Thanks! :) Turns out the sager config with rock is turning out to be more expensive than alienware for me.... confused now. Guess I'll stick to XoticPC.

I compared Alienware Area-51 m15x to Rock X770. And Rock seems way more expensive than XoticPC.

yup its too bad that rock is overpriced comparing to a dollarcompany.

i'd still go for an m570ru anyway and xoticpc has great service.

Well, Rock has pan-European warranty with collect and return (3 year standard). That no one has considered. It breaks down, you don't have to pay at least 100$ to get it back (collect and return shipping fees). They are one of the best alternatives for Europeans, one which I am highly considering, since if it breaks down and I have to send it to US, I'll have to pay at least 300$ for the shipping.

Well, that's your problem then. They were always expensive, too expensive actually, but for Europeans that want quality they're the best. They are the only European retailer that offers 3 year pick-up and return warranty included in the base price.

Yes, it is, but it's a 17" and you get something for the extra money (3 year pan European collect and return, which I have never seen somewhere else offered for a gaming laptop).
    Stop comparing a 15" to a 17". It's not right and fair.

where do these mxxx notebooks from alienware come from btw?
because this seems like the first time Alienware is competing...

Arima is the ODM that is manufacturing the Alienware high-end gaming notebooks... ever since the M9700/M9750.

Arima probably has an exclusive contract to only sell their units to Alienware, which is then re-branded with a new LCD casing, Alien-head, lights, custom molded panels, price... etc..

yeah, that would make sense, because i haven't seen them elsewhere..

the m17x is a serious competetor of the m570ru, and the m15x crushes the compal ifl.

    lol at what price ;)

i'm not a fan of alienware's but..... i like the looks of these little machines...

estimated 3d mark 2006 figures are a bit generous dont you think? 15000 is pushing it when the xps m1730 with 8800 gtx sli only pushes out 13000

3dmark scores are the exact reason why you don't use them to compare machines...quad core cpu's very commonly almost double the cpu score in 3dmark 06 when compared to a dual core. So the score sounds correct for a quad core laptop and the 13k score for the m1730 sounds about right. If you ran the machines on say a game like crysis though witch only supports 2 cpu cores the machines would probably perform identically.
