Did a video on the delid process with RockitCool delider. Piece of cake. Great piece of kit.
A new HS came today and I could finally get some CLU on it. It must be making good contact - the machines as cool as a cucumber now. Happy days :D

    Cheers brother :D
I had a real sinker of a HS before. I was shockingly bad and was giving me grief. I'd just roll the dice on a new one when you have some coin. I've dropped around 20 Celsius just like that with the CLU combo.

If possible will you be able to post a picture of what the contact is like for you ?
Also where did you get the new HS from ?

ah yes, even with my crappy heatsink im able to drop temps by 10C easy through CLU, but due to the bad contact the risk of it flowing out onto the mobo is too great... in any case, delidding and clu under the IHS also helped :) and thx to the socket locking mechanism the clu stays under the IHS no matter what

I'm happy to hear that you got the temps down on it. That's a pretty healthy drop.

Yes, it's really slick. I successfully delidded a 4790K and two 6700K with a razor blade before buying one and this is so much easier, and no risk of scratching the PCB (or knocking off the FIVR components on 4790K). Brother @ssj92 borrowed mine for his 6700K delid and it worked great for him. It's now in Brazil with Brother @j95 for the delid on his P870DM-G CPU. Great tool, and very affordably priced.

    Great vid Brother @TBoneSan

I got the new HS from Hidevolution
Are you referring to the original Heat Sink's poor contact? or the New one?

Yeah it's done the trick buddy. The temps are ridiculously low now. 4.8Ghz (and counting) is a cakewalk. Before 4.0ghz was ruining things.

"さよなら” = "Sayonara" crappy Intel paste :D

    @Mr. Fox

Cheers Bro. Wow..your delider's getting round to all the brothers! traveling the world and breaking seals :D

My replacement heat sink for the P750ZM also wasn't great. Slightly better than the old one, but still pretty poor. As I have mentioned a couple of times, heat sink QC seems to be an area of opportunity for Clevo. I've been very fortunate to have awesome heat sinks for the P870DM-G. I got lucky on the replacement P570WM heat sink. The original was crap and the replacement was excellent.

@TBoneSan - very happy to hear your beast has been tamed in the thermals department.

Yeah, i do need a reference point to see how well my heat sink is doing though. With the CLU-SHIM-CLU business i idle @ 30C running 4.6Ghz and loads dont cross 65-68C. (without AC) 4.8Ghz pushes this to low 80's.

Yeah I'm absolutely thrilled. It's a transformation. Now I'm starting to have me some fun :D

...And well said. The HS QC could use a little more TLC.

Next time I open it up I'll take a picture. I'm a little reluctant to do in since I've just layed some CLU. The greedy thing ate move than 1 pack. I do plan on swapping out the Thermal Pads on the heat sinks for some thinner ones as soon as they arrive. I'll be sure to take some snaps then.
I'm keen to see how your shim is going too. I'd like to be able to ditch the IHS one day.

Wow, if that's just with fans blowing low 80's is great for 4.8GHz under 100% load. I'd be happy with that and move on if it's never any hotter than that. That's not very hot.

Yeah i tested using wPrime 1024, my render jobs, which hammer the processor pretty hard, and Cinebench along with some AIDA64. Hammering with Prime95 small FFT's does push it beyond 92C pretty fast @ 4.8Ghz .

this is why clevo needs to offer direct die heatsinks

I intend to play around with approaching that from a modding point of view.

There isn't a large enough user base to justify that. I mean a user base that de-lids their processor and would like to use it without the intel IHS.

You would need to be able to convert the 6820hk to a socket base to start doing that sort of thing.
