Sorry for the amateur question gents. I searched high and low on the internets and couldn't locate a solid answer.
I want to up date ATI catalyst control center from 10.4 to 10.5 on windows 7. Do I need to uninstall 10.4 first or can I just download and install 10.5? I ask because I've found directions for Vista and they include the uninstall step, but is it needed for Windows 7?
    Thanks!

my own personal rule of thumb is to uninstall the previous video drivers from device manager (check the box that says delete the driver software for this device) restart the computer, and then install the new drivers. did it with 10.4 to 10.5 and i did it every time i updated the drivers on my old P-6860fx with nvidia.

only reason i do it is because i have had glitches that were caused by installing new drivers over old ones, and a complete uninstall/software delete and clean install of the new drivers fixed it.

    1. Uninstall current drivers and suite
    2. Restart in Safe Mode
    3. Use Driver Sweeper to clean up
    4. Restart in either Safe Mode or regular mode
    5. Install new drivers and suite.

You can never go wrong completely uninstalling old drivers and related graphics utilities before installing a new set. However, with ATI drivers, just installing new drivers over old drivers works fine for me so long as you're going from an older version to a newer version. If going the other way, i.e., rolling back to an earlier version, uninstall first.
