    It does that for me too, but did since day 1. No idea if thats how it's supposed to be, but I haven't encountered any issue regarding sound!

    It's working as intended. It's a fiber cable that uses light to transmit data. You should be worried when the port isn't glowing red.

    Just hook it up into a optical in on your home receiver and you have great output sound and 5.1 if your receiver supports it.

    If that light bothers you, you can switch it off in the Realtek Control Panel.
    Just disable SPIDIF and it will stop glowing.
    Thats if you're not using it.
