Hey there folks,
Recently i purchased a Blackhawk - Laptop from pcmicrwoworks, a reseller in the States and had it shipped to Germany finally.
Everything fine so far, i got a bit used to Vista by now and the machine runs perfect. Well if there wasnt the problem with the Keyboard :
The reseller was so kind to put in a german keyboard for me, which is neat, however, am I not able to get ANY keyboard layouts working.
I am able to change them in the propetiers and so on, but they are not being recognized by the machine.
I tried microsofts keyboard layout creator, making my own custom layouts, but still without any results.
Thus at the moment the keys on my laptop are pretty random : E is exchanged in place with R C with B D with Z H with M M with K... you get the idea by now, its a mess.
Now some keys have the right position but the rest just aint on the right place.
Well i wondered if this might be a well known Vista issue, also i considered that maybe smth has gone wrong in the whole custom-building proccess.
Oh well right now i can only guess,![]()
anybody got an advice? who wants to be my saving angle![]()
best wishes

:/
:S
sounds like a vista thing
or it could be a faulty input keys that came with your notebook
you could try buying an external keyboard and pluging it in and seeing if that will work and to check wether it is vista or your notebook -
good point! ill try it right away

I had the same problem with mine i have a british layout its a vista problem I manage to work round it using Microsoft keyboard layout creator 1.4 found here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...aa-780d-4253-9e0a-e17e51db2223&DisplayLang=en
Once you have it load your existing keyboard layout into it replace the keys with the ones on your layout, validate it and then save and install the modded one worked a treat for me -
^ did this work out for you? I'm getting a XR5 with a swedish keyboard within a couple of days.. Nice to know if you were able to solve the problem.
-
Is it an english or a german Vista?
-
It worked fine my @ key is even in the right play (above the no.2 key no above the ' key) this is one of the many problems it solved I even have a £ sign now. you need to make sure you test and validate before saving then install the new layout.

More generally, language support packages for MS-branded hardware can be downloaded from here.
I don't know if these packages will solve your problem (e.g., because you're using a laptop that most definitely does not have a keyboard "made" by MS); however, that website might be a good starting point to see if you can find a solution to your problem. -
hey there, sorry for the long wait i had some other things going. i got my neck around the microsoft layout creator a second time and actually got it working, partly. the keys are right now and im glad but i still dont have a working shift, alt and control key...
it is really odd and i wonder if these are even really connected because the system does not recognize these keys at all in any program whatsoever.
any suggestions? harry maybe you know how i can get my shift key working?
thanks for any help in advance ill make sure to check asap and reply quickly
