i guess i don't need the ssd drives yet, it'd sure be great to have that kind of "theoretical stability" thanks to the no moving parts, but as i've learned through experience rushing through these decisions runs a great risk... plus i can always save money by buying it later

about the ram issue i had, i still don't fully understand, but 8gb is a lot for my taste, my current laptop has 2gb and runs quite well, but it has a lot of overheating issues, which is why i'm sticking to buying the np9262, thanks to the cooling system.

finally, if i would like to install a second os, should i add the raid 0 option on the two hard drives, or leave them seperate? (directed at the np9262)

Glad that the Sager now support officially the 8Gb. I need it to run multiple operating systems in parallel.

They're [Clevo M730T series] out, but Sager chose only a few models to add to their line.

Look towards other vendors, like Eurocom or Pro-Star for other Clevo models.

I was a bit disappointed that Sager did not even choose the new AMD Puma's for their new line of notebooks.

I'm in FL. I'm not sure why I can't get on your website. I know it's not an ISP problem because I can get on here and other sites fine without any problems. IE7 as well as Firefox 3.0 cannot display the webpage. I've even clicked on the link under your posts from here. same thing. I even googled xoticpc and clicked on the link provided by google. same thing... I have comcast high speed cable connection.

few questions for Justin regarding xoticpc Sager NP5796:

    1. When looking at the screenshots of the notebook, there seem to be missing labels for the back of the notebook... If I'm correct there are HDMI + DVI connections available ?

    2. When customizing there is no option for the built-in Tv Tuner module, although one of the screenshots has a label for 'CATV Jack (Enable with Tv Tuner only)'. Is there an option for the built-in tv module ?

    3. Who is the maker of the 320gb 7200rpm drive ? Western Digital or Seagete ?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hello :)

    1. The pictures on our website show the DVI and HDMI on the 5796.

    2. Sager has removed the Internal TV Option as it was analog only and will be out of date this coming February when everything goes Digital.

    3. The 320GB 7200 is made by Seagate. :)

Its just the trend in laptops. When I got my original Compal, it cost 2000 to get what is the equivalent of is the 2096 today. Prices go down (fortunately for us).

I noticed the 9800 GT doesn't have HybridPower while the 9800 GTS does. What's the battery life of the NP8660 with the integrated GPU on?

While it supports 8GB installed, due to the hardware overhead you will have about 6.8GB usable.

Well, the Hybrid Power (switching between IGP/dedicated for perforamnce/battery life) is only available if the laptop has the 9100m G Integrated Graphics. It does not work with Intel Integrated Graphics.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9100m_g_mgpu.html

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/hybridsli_notebook.html

I am farely certain the new Sager models do not have 9100m G IGP or else they would advertise it as that would be a major feature.

Both of the links say they DO support Hybrid SLI. Click on "Specifications" in both of the links and the X is next to Hybrid SLI. The X means they DO support it.

Question for Justin or whomever can answer:

Do you guys expect Quadro cards to be available for these at any point? If yes, would it be possible to order one as an individual upgrade if/when they become available?

Thanks for explaining the whole pricing question I had. It was really bugging me but now I understand.

The reason I compared the ati to the 8800gt is because it has been said on here ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=196463) that the 8800m gtx is comparable to the 8800 gts. It kinda gives us an idea of what to expect from the ati later on. Since the Ati and the 8800gt are very close in performance and so are the 9800m gt, 8800m gtx, and 8800 gts, it would be a good to do a comparison between the 8800gt and the 8800gts to get a ballpark view of how the performance will be for us. I may be completely off (I wouldn't put that past me) but it makes sense to me. At least, I THINK it makes sense to me lol.

Currently the Quadro card is only available in the Sager NP9262 (D901C).

Sager is considering at it to other models, but at this time there is no ETA, and the final decision has not been made whether they will be offered or not.

You're not likely to get much of a response rescusitating a dead thread. If you really want to get a response back from justin@xoticpc, or any other reseller, on your question, you'd be best off sending them a pm or an email from their company websites.

Well, I might as well answer lijiahui's question, even though I'm not Justin. There's no word on the ATI 3870 coming to the M860TU, and, in my opinion, I don't think Clevo will be releasing a hybrid SLI laptop.

I'm not Justin either, but Mark @ Killernotebooks has said that he has put the two (3870/M860TU) together and that it works. It's a relatively recent development. I assume he's using the 3870 of the Arima W840DI.

So wouldn't this also mean that if you put 3870s in your NB and they fry your NB that in fact they are also frying your warranty as well.

Well, it would fry the manufacturer warranty with Clevo. But if you bought from a builder who put in a 3870, you'd still be covered under the builder's own warranty.

You mean this one? :) I had to roll with the times, but I still prefer real American heroes, not the fabricated kind. The pic's a contemporary painter's idea of what an action portrait of the good Mr. Sash would have looked like, in media res, if you will, as a leader of the Shaysites during Shay's Rebellion in the late 18th Century.

to those familiar; does clevo have any light portable laptops 14.1 inches - 15.4?

ive tried scanning their website but they dont include weight measurements plus their barebones systems so the weight wouldnt be realistic either way.

    thanks for the help guys.

    * edit: one more thing; has anyone tried purchasing clevo's direct from the manufacturer while visiting taiwan?
