I have been researching and most say that the lcd light needs to be replaced. That has been the suggested solution for people having this problem. BUT my problem differs, my secondary monitor (the one im using right now) works. Any ideas?

Are you saying the internal screen is dark but an external monitor is fine?

Because that still would suggest that the backlight or inverter of the internal screen has failed.

An external screen will still work fine in that case.

Hi to the OP, what did you end up doing?

I enjoy replacing LCD backlights. Just putting that out there ;)
