So i just purchased an ASUS G73jh and it has kind of dissapointed me. Ive had to do more work arounds to get the stinkin thing running that i think i should have and recently im getting a lot of freezing and crashing etc. Im fairly knowledgeable with computers so Im pretty sure its not me.
With all these problems im considering just returning it and getting the SAGER NP8760. Im a lot more hesitant to purchase another laptop now because of all the problems ive had with asus. I wish i would have asked this question before i bought it, but it was fairly new. But-What are the main issues if any that the sager has? Anything i need to look out for?
Thinkin about getting it from xotic- upgrade to the i7, keep the 5870 and get the extra hd. Any other must haves?

I don't own the 8760, but I'll start with the obvious:
it's heavier and bigger than the G73, if that's a concern.
Also, it won't have the 2hour+ battery life of the G73. -
I never had any issues with my 8760 ... Ran cool, reliable etc...
Lack of things on the 8760 are no backlit keys(you may not care about this but i did) poor audio from speakers and Terrible battery life...
I also owned the G73 which in some cases i enjoyed more basically for the reasons above but the GPU temps were a bit toasty for my liking....
If i had to do it over again im not sure which i would pick though... -
thats the thing i really like the design of the G73 and the backlit keyboard battery life etc. But i cant believe its only lasted 2 weeks. Im hoping if i replace i can get a good one, but ive heard around here that doesnt happen til 3rd or 4th rma.

I found the G73 speakers far better and i tweaked both of them honestly...
Sagers sounded more like someone yelling through a tin can but its fine because overall the machine is very solid and all the machines have there fair share of issues/shortcomings... -
Have you tried SRS Audio Sandbox on the Sager, Quad?
It changed everything on my 8690. This thing actually sounds pretty decent now. -
I have the NP8760. It works fine for me. I use it for AutoCAD and graphics. The negatives are that it is LOUD, and set to "high performance" power, I get 45 mins on the battery. That doesn't matter to me as I'm always plugged in.
Also. I truly hate the little door on the back that covers the power input, and I'd prefer the USB port placement on the sides be on the back somewhere. Still, that is all personal as to how I set up my peripherals.
My big mistake with the NP8760 was when purchasing I got the more expensive nVidia GTX 285 rather than the ATI 5870. I assumed this was an upgrade, however, this card cannot handle the 27" monitor I've been given at work, and I'm back to using my 24. I guess it's my ignorance, but I feel a little gyped. Sager want $300 for the ATI card now if I want to put it in myself.
Anyone know of another place I might be able to find this card cheaper? -
You can pop that little door off the back very easily and put back on at a later date...
Just squeeze it together and it will pop right out.. -
So my screen totally went blank one side and multi colored / rainbow effect on the other-right down the middle. Tried to restart, reinstall windows, but even in bios i get the same problem. Spoke with tigerdirect for a replacement, but they are out of stock so im getting a refund. Im seriously starting to consider the sager now lol, but ill at least wait till i get my money back.
Also, on the rear cover- I saw that in a review and thought it was kind of silly and if i got it I would def pop the cover off as u said quad. Sound isnt a huge issue, i have my desktop if I need to listen to music er whatever. But i do like how the G73 was quiet and cool. -
