    SAGER NP9170 - combined e-sata /USB Port issue

    The combined e-sata /USB port is no longer working,
    Has anyone had this issue and is there a possible fix that I can do, as sending my laptop out for repair is not an option.

    try 'fn + power button' while the machine is powered off. it's a powered port and can therefore be toggled on and off.

    You could try doing a full power off removing even the CMOS battery if removing the system battery and AC does not work.

    If that does not you have had motherboard damage to the port.

    Tried both methods - port still dead. - therefore may be my motherboard - damnn.

    If it's still in warranty it's a fair reason to send it in for repair. If that really can't be done then there is not much you can really do.

    Aye, sending it in to Sager will probably yield a whole new board for that. I don't think they solder new ports. If you're out of warranty, there's really no simple fix for it.
