SAger 5792 question

Hey guys,

I thinking about getting a sager 5792(or its equalivent) by the end of this month. I am looking for a model w/4GB RAM 8800GTX and a 2.8GHZ extreme proc. THe only place I know of that has this config is PCMW. Do you know of any others that may be able to get me this?

Also, do you think I may be able to get the Silver Trim(i know eurocom has it but who else...)?

The only places that have the silver trim are Eurocom and Rock that I know of. So unless you want to pay $2,000 more for a cosmetic difference, go with Eurocom.

Just because I am a worry wart I would go with a better warranty. I would consider spending the extra cash to get at least a 3yr coverage and if you wanted spend a little extra and get the PLUS package if you want to get cheaper upgrades for it in the future.

I just recommend the extra warranty time because it always seems that in a year after purchase something happens and you need to get it fixed. Remember, its not a matter of If you have computer problems its WHEN and how to deal with it

Other than that, I think you would be a proud owner of one heck of a system!

 

You may want to contact PC MicroWorks and make sure that the Extreme processor will not cause any kind of backorder. Intel still has these processors in very limited supply, which is why Sager doesn't offer them yet. Once Intel is confident they can start meeting demand, you can expect every reseller to start offering them.

I'll also say that there is a reason none of the USA-based OEMs offer the silver trim: everyone who actually saw the trim in person thought it looked hideous, which is really sad, because the pictures look really good, but the orange trim also looks a lot better in person than the pictures indicate.

 

Forget the backorder. The X7900 was not cleared by Clevo to go into the M570RU. Make sure that the notebook they sell you is going to be the revision motherboard that can handle the extra heat.

So long as they aren't trying to sell you an older unit with the chip in it you should be fine.

 

When they say "8 Channel Advanced SRS WOW Surround Sound System" is that an upgraded sound system or the same system in all the other 570ru's?

 

The 8 Channel support is the same for all 570RU's.

So far Clevo has not approved the Extreme CPUs for the M570RU and there is no final bios that allows overclocking. The system would likely need a new bottom case to correctly support overclocking. The Extreme CPU is pointless without overclocking.

 

How long do you think that will take Justin?I have 2 buy a laptop by the end of this year...

 

Unfortunately there is no information on this. I would think it is highly unlikely it will be before the end of this year.

It appears that both have them available but I don't think they come with the silver trim but they do have them instock. I would talk to Paladin44 (powernotebooks rep) or Justin (xoticpc rep). Either of them will be able to help you!
