I recently purchased a Sager Np8662 directly from sagernotebook.com and was excited about the computer. Here are the specs:
Intel Dual Core T9600 2.8 Ghz 6MB Cache 1066mhz side bus
4 GB DDR3 SDRAM @ 1066
Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M w/ 1GB DDr3 V RAM
320 GB 7,200 rpm hard drive
15.4 inch 1920x1200 DisplayWUXGA
Vista home premium
When I first got the computer, I was satisfied with pretty much everything-the performance, the looks, the feel-except the screen. It's a gorgeous display, dont get me wrong, but there was a stuck pixel at the bottom of the screen at the first power-on. It's a bright lime green pixel that shows up on every background but white, green, or yellow, and is annoying as all get out. I have tried everything-UDPixel, JScreen Fix, The tapping and and pressure techniques-all bs. Of course I didn't purchase the dead pixel guarantee. Its two hundred extra. I could buy a second LCD display for that much. I'm still under the 30 day money back guarantee that sager offers, and was wondering a few things.
First-Any suggestions for correcting the stuck pixel? I've read on it and tried everything that google and youtube have to offer.
Second-Should I just put up with it? It's not that bad. On widescreen DVDs its on the black bar at the bottom. It may get annoying in dark scenes in a game or something. Option B-return it for the money.
Third-Assuming I do return it and, using the money back, purchase another NP8662. Is this a smart manuever? Or is there a chance the stuck pixels on this would be worse? Any NP8662 users that have had this problem or have never had any issues, please-speak your mind
Please hurry-the 30 day money back garantee doesnt last much longer :/

Welcome to the NBR forums.
if the dead/stuck pixel is located in the middle quadrant of the screen, then Sager will replace it for you with no hassles.
if the dead pixel is elsewhere, you can still do a return/exchange with Sager at no cost... except paying for shipping. -
Well I have been emailing sager about it and its in the middle just towards the bottom of the screen they said they wouldnt replace anything less than 5 dead pixels. Which mine isnt even a dead pixel but sager says its the same thing. Any advice about returning it? I guess I could always hope my next one comes with nothing wrong. And shipping wouldn't be more than 30 bucks. It's just waiting for another computer. And having to reinstall everything. And hoping that it doesnt have the same problem

I have a dead pixel. Have`nt thought about until I read this thread though, thank you for that
. If you dont think theres a dead pixel on your screen, you wont notice it. But mine is kinda not that noticeable so that helps.
-
dead pixels are uncommon, so you should not get one (statistically) in the replacement system. -
I have one on mine but it doesn't bother me but then it is rarely visible during gaming.

I did use Jscreenfix for a while though. -
like laptopnut said, go here and try their program. it worked on my old M1730.

Another concern I Have- My hard drive is running at 59 degrees celcius right now (I am installing a game). I think that is a little high and was wondering if anyone knew of any drivers or software that could reduce this temp to something like 40. I could buy a cooling pad i guess but 59 is a little worrisome...thought it might be a driver issue

That's actually pretty normal for the HDDs in this laptop. They run between 50-55C and can get up to 60 or so when doing stuff like installing. One thing you can do to reduce it is to disable disk write caching, which will drop it a few degrees C. A notebook cooler would bring it down a bit too.

man up and buy a solid state drive. RMA if it's bugging you but if you know where to look you can buy a new screen for the price of shipping, so that's up to you.
